Anouk, Sukey or Mina

Appreciate these are marmite names.

Anouk has been my favourite for a while but lack of acceptable nicknames make me unsure.

DH adores Sukey (Sue - key)
I also like Mina (Me - na)

Other suggestions welcome. Can’t have names ending in in/en (eg Erin). Prefer one or two syllable names.

Nina is nice.
Sukey is a dog's name imo.

Stringofpearls · 24/01/2018 14:39

I think Sukie is a sweet name, but prefer the more traditional spelling.

pinkhorse · 24/01/2018 14:41

Sukey reminds me of that song... sukey put the kettle on...

Lifeofpies · 24/01/2018 14:44

Yeah that spelling is the same as the poem (so Georgian English?)

Love Sukey.

moomoogalicious · 24/01/2018 14:50

I love sukie, but with the 'ie' ending.

Isn't it a derivative of susan or susannah?

MikeUniformMike · 24/01/2018 14:51

Anouk is a form of Ann/Anna. You could use Annie as a nn.
Mina is Hindi or Arabic. I prefer Nina.
Sukey - I'd think of it as Asian. Sukey is Hebrew and a form of Susannah.

Lifeofpies · 24/01/2018 14:51

The Sukie spelling may help prevent the nn suck ey too... hmm.

I think it is from Susan.

No, Sukey takes the kettle off again - I think Polly is the tea lovers choice.

Lifeofpies · 24/01/2018 14:53

Mina I first learnt reading Frankenstein! Unfortunately we can’t use Nina, though it is pretty.

❤️ Suki/e

ChocolateCrunch · 24/01/2018 15:15

I like Anouk (and Anoushka) and Sukie (this spelling), but not so keen on Mina

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/01/2018 15:47

Anouk is by far the best.

Sukey is a cats name and Mina is terrible.

lizzieoak · 24/01/2018 15:51

Anouk or Suki. I think nicknames often arise by themselves, so I would not over worry that point.

NotAgainYoda · 24/01/2018 15:52

I like Anouk

I suggest

Serena
Genevieve
Farah
Anita
Leonie
Leah

heron98 · 24/01/2018 15:54

I'm afraid I hate the name Anouk.

Pemba · 24/01/2018 16:22

Sukey/Sukie however you spell it is really cute and a bit quirky, I love it. But I would put Susanna/h on the birth certificate (beautiful name) as it sounds more grown up and would give her options for the future. (Like Susie, Zanna, or the complete Susannah). Just like my friend Katherine is Kate/Katie to family, Kathy at work, Katherine to others. She tells me she likes it that way.

I also like Anouk and Mina. All your names are slightly unusual, that's a big plus.

Meemzinha · 24/01/2018 16:54

I love Anouk! Nook/Nooka is a cute nickname...

Not massively fond of the others..

A few of these are on my short list.. I have a girl due in May!
-Cleo
-Miyah/Maiya
-Marley
-Eska (love this and it's very very rare)

Good luck! It's super hard hey..

Lifeofpies · 24/01/2018 17:10

Thank you all, been v helpful.

Mina is the best of the three.

I don't like Anouk, it's very harsh & not a nice sound.

Sorry, but Sukey is just a silly nickname.

RuthW · 24/01/2018 18:12

Sorry I'm not keen. Sukey is ok if the full name is Susan/Susannah/Suzanne.

The other would get the nick name Nookie and Mina I think of a nick name for a vagina.

Elfyn · 24/01/2018 18:30

Nook or Nookie aren’t great are they?!

Suki (however you spell it is cute) but a bit informal perhaps?

How about Minna? I prefer it to Mina personally.

Elfyn · 24/01/2018 18:31

Whoops brackets in the wrong place there! Blush

DuggeeHugs · 24/01/2018 19:05

I love Anouk and so would go with it Smile
