Mmc at early stages not too long ago and trying again. Thinking of names for fun very early as find it quite fun! I have loads of names I like but are not usable. Any suggestions?

I like:
Pandora (can't use though)
Iseult
Isis (sadly unusable now)

Ignatius
Atlas (but not brave enough)
Sebastian
Robbie (but can't use Robert so stuck)
Jamie (but dislike James so again stuck)

Seraphine is lovely.
Castiel is going on my list. I actually liked Castle for boy but dp rightly vetoed. This is a lovely alternative

Caractacus
Dmitri
Lysander

I came across a child called Childe recently. Couldn't decide if it was sweet or wrong. Possibly the parents were fans of Byron. (The poet, not the burger chain.)

Lysander is nice. Bloody hell, Childe. That is brave.

I knew a Lysander. He was dead cool.

Harebellmeadow · 16/01/2018 16:14

I think Childe is pronounced the medieval (aka french) way, so Sheelde. I don't belong to ivory tower circles where kids are thus named though.

Love Lysander. Would be teased as Lizzie though.

TatianaLarina · 16/01/2018 16:19

The Lysander I knew was never teased for his name and he went to a tough comprehensive. (I asked him).

It’s Lie-sander anyway, he was called Ly for short.

Harebellmeadow · 16/01/2018 16:23

That's good Tatiana, because Lysander has been my Nr 1 boys name since years. Nr 2, although I'm not sure I would dare to use it, is Bohemond.
Too Crusadey, like Tancred, and I wouldn't want a boy to be in danger from having a Crusader name.

TatianaLarina · 16/01/2018 18:29

Tancred is cool. It’s got a GoT ring to it.

Bohemond is probably best left to the cat (we had a cat called La Boheme Bo for short, and one called Horatio too^^).

Leander or Isambard for a boy?

MNOverinvestor · 16/01/2018 21:46

The Childe I was (briefly) acquainted with had an Anglicised form. 'Oh CHILD, it's time for your extra Mandarin coaching etc etc.' from his mother. Needless to say this Childe was also wearing a breton striped top. He did have rather great Byronesque hair though. For a four-year-old...

MamaMotherMummy · 16/01/2018 23:14

Oh dear I can see so much scope for bullying with Childe!

I joke to my children that if I have my time again, I’m going to name them all Child so I don’t have to remember their names.
