as in Hill of?

villainousbroodmare · 06/01/2018 23:47

I much prefer Tara. I have only ever known two; both are beautiful and clever so good associations. It's more defined than Lara somehow.

Mrsknackered · 07/01/2018 00:25

Prefer Lara.

alphajuliet123 · 07/01/2018 00:35

What about Cara (Italian for loved one, Irish for friend)

Tara always reminds me of how northerners say goodbye, think Corrie "Ta ra love".

alphajuliet123 · 07/01/2018 00:36

Or Zara. Carla, Laura, Jana (yarna) - all have similar sounds

ChocolateCrunch · 07/01/2018 01:43

I prefer Lara TBH. Also like Cara.

Rainbowsandflowers78 · 07/01/2018 01:45

Prefer Cara

Failingat40 · 07/01/2018 01:52

Tara is a tough-nut name to me (School Bitch) so I dislike it.

I do like Lara and Cara though.

Pemba · 07/01/2018 03:28

Lara is lovely. Tara seems more downmarket somehow. There's also Mara, which is more unusual.

squoosh · 07/01/2018 03:37

Tara is the historical seat of the High Kings of Ireland. I like it.

I like it. I'm Irish so associate it with the Hill of Tara too. And we used it for one of our dogs! Grin.

HuskyMcClusky · 07/01/2018 05:03

I like Cara and Mara.

I strongly dislike Tara and Lara.

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 07:41

Tara is nowhere near as pretty as Lara

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2018 08:37

I prefer Lara. How about Cora?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/01/2018 08:49

Zara for me. 😄

catsarenice · 07/01/2018 09:04

That's interesting @Pemba - I really liked Tara for DD but DP said it was too posh!!!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/01/2018 09:09

Exactly that. I wonder if all schools had one?

Santasbigredbobblehat · 07/01/2018 09:12

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (sp?) was pretty posh. I have to say I’m not keen on it.
Cara is nicer.

Figrollsnotfatrolls · 07/01/2018 09:16

My BFF at primary school was Tara. No way a bitch!!

Lauren1x · 07/01/2018 09:23

Not a fan of Cara for the same reason bitch at school. Love Zara, was always the name I wanted since a child however can't use it as it's my OH cousins name😔 OH doesn't like Mara! Cora is lovely

Tara is fine as long as your surname isn’t Lott Smile

Skadespelerskorna · 07/01/2018 09:25

I much prefer Lara. Or as another PP has suggested Cara (so sweet).

Tara sounds very dated to me. It's the name of my MIL.

Baubletrouble43 · 07/01/2018 09:28

I like them both. I'm a big fan of names that are easy to spell/write ! And they are both pretty.

Lauren1x · 07/01/2018 09:33

Is it ok to use a name that is also OH cousins name?

Always loved Zara-Rose Isabella, but have said I could never used it now which is why I'm looking for a name close! What do you think?

Definitely ok to use OH's cousins name!!!! Zara is lovely and quite different but easy to spell, pronounce etc :-)
