Hi, what does everyone think of the name Quinn for a girl? I love it but when I mention it to people they just say it's a boy name.
I'm team yellow but just trying to think of names xx

Looks too much like Quim.

Elementally · 01/01/2018 21:57

I've only heard it for a girl.

It does sound like quim. I couldn't for that reason.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 01/01/2018 21:58

Yeah, the quim thing isn’t good.

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2018 21:59

Nope, couldn't do it for the same reasons as above.

RavenWings · 01/01/2018 21:59

Supermarket or former businessman/disgraced shyster in Ireland.

Leaving that to one side, I still don't like it - if you ignore yerman it's a generic surname, like calling a child McCarthy.

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 01/01/2018 22:00

Also everyone will think you named your kid after Harley Quinn which is... bad

PinkAvocado · 01/01/2018 22:02

It looks and sounds too similar to ‘quim’ unfortunately.

Topseyt · 01/01/2018 22:04

I'd have thought it was a boy's name.

It would also make me think of the Superquinn or Quinnsworth supermarkets in Ireland.

Ahh nevermind, back to the drawing board, thanks for replying x

Will she be your 5th child?

annie8417 · 01/01/2018 22:08

No not 5th , why?

Humour .... because "Quin" or "quint" at the start of a word often refers to 5 or 5th in a run. E.g. quintuplets meaning 5 children born together.

That said, I like the name ..... although it's also a village in Ireland (Quin) lovely place, but it's still a place name for me.

annie8417 · 01/01/2018 22:13

Haha as soon as posted that reply I thought doh xx it's been a long day 😳

Other name I like is Robyn? X

CoolCarrie · 01/01/2018 22:31

Robyn is lovely, definitely not Quinn, it reminds me of a character in Glee!

PinkAvocado · 01/01/2018 22:31

I don’t often like unisex (which are usually male names slightly adapted to be for a girl I think) but Robyn is nice and much better than Quinn

nomorespaghetti · 01/01/2018 22:31

I like quinn! I know a three year old quinn (girl). Makes me think of the sister from Daria (anyone remember that?!)

pipilangstrumpf · 01/01/2018 22:36

I only know boys named Quinn. Sounds strong and masculine like Flynn or Finn. Nothing feminine about it.

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 22:42

I think Quim.

Robyn is nice. Not sure about the y though.

SequinsOnEverything · 01/01/2018 22:55

I like Quinn! Hiw many people actually know what quim means anyway? If it weren't for The Avengers I'd never have heard it.

I also wouldn't think she was named after harley quinn.

I do like Robyn as well though.

MacTaylorsSecretWife · 01/01/2018 22:56

Are you a Scandal fan OK? Smile

PinkAvocado · 01/01/2018 23:18

Sequins-quite a few on this thread alone!

SuperBeagle · 02/01/2018 06:35

I love Quinn.

Never heard of quim, but I'm Australian so that may be why.

sashh · 02/01/2018 06:47

If it was your name you would know because someone would tell you, probably when you are 12, they will tell the rest of the class too.

SuperBeagle

Imagine calling a child Beaver.

annie8417 · 02/01/2018 09:04

I must admit I'd never heard of quim, I had to google it 😂 I did worry about the Harley Quinn thing tho
