Marcus or Vincent

Have shortened our list to these two.

DC2 will be here in less than four weeks, dh and I have strong, differing opinions on baby names, and these two are really it. If you hate both, of course it’s fine to say so if you like, but I will have to ignore you Grin!

Many tia for opinions.

Vincent

Hijklm · 29/12/2017 09:11

Very different names.
Marcus I see as posh public schoolboy
Vincent is kind of cool.
I quite like both but they give off different vibes to me.
My DH hates Marcus. Says all he can hear is mucous.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/12/2017 09:13

Oh sorry for the derail, but regarding your user name... Have some respect for rags. AngryGrin

TatianaLarina · 29/12/2017 09:16

Marcus or just Mark. Vincent is awful.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 29/12/2017 09:16

Blush I really should apologise to rags the world over!

@hijklm

I feel the same way about Lucas as your dh does about Marcus! So I sympathise.

Marcus (or Mark), really don't like Vincent, sorry.

RosesInTheHospital · 29/12/2017 09:41

This is probably the first time on a baby name thread where I actually like both options! Not helpful I know. I’d be inclined to use both.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 29/12/2017 10:14

Thanks all.

I’m leaning towards Marcus atm, but that could easily change.

Marcus, though I like it spelt Markus! I wanted to use it but my husband hates it!

Willow2017 · 29/12/2017 10:17

Definately Marcus (but i am biased😀)

pepperminttaste · 29/12/2017 10:19

Vincent! I know quite a few Marcus' though...

fleshmarketclose · 29/12/2017 10:28

I prefer Vincent but Marcus isn't awful by any stretch.

RavingRoo · 29/12/2017 10:29

I prefer marcos.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 29/12/2017 10:44

Markus is a nice spelling. Where does that come from? I think we’ll stick with Marcus tbh, as dd has a really classic name, which can’t be misspelled. Would like the same for dc2.

Marcos makes me think of Imelda Blush. I’m sure I’d get used to it if I met one though.

I like then both, but prefer Vincent.

maitaimojito · 29/12/2017 11:30

I prefer Vincent.

Fridgedooropen · 29/12/2017 11:31

Vincent. Reminds me of the 'starry starry night' Don McLean song.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 29/12/2017 11:33

Yes @fridge! Me too. I love that song. Poor old Van Gogh though...

IHeartDodo · 29/12/2017 11:34

Vincent makes me think of a slimy italian mobster...
Marcus is nice, but I had a crush on a guy called Markus for years!

TatianaLarina · 29/12/2017 11:37

Yes I just hear ‘Vinnie’ in a very nasal voice.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 29/12/2017 11:41

@tatiana

I sometimes say Vinnie in my best prohibition era gangster voice Grin. Just to try it out. I am leaning towards Marcus I think though. Sad I wouldn’t get to do my al Capone daily though Sad.

Marcus definitely! I have an 8 month old Marcus 😊 Went to school with a boy called Vincent and he was a horrible bully so that name is tainted for me.

FoggieFishieCarpeDiem · 29/12/2017 12:10

They’re both nice.

Vincent doesn’t make me think of Italians (or Italian mobsters!). The Vincents I know are English or French / from French speaking regions... (But I do know Italians named Vincenzo / Enzo.)

Marcus is nice and reminds me of holidays in Venice / St. Mark :)

CormoranStrike · 29/12/2017 12:12

Marcus, definitely.
