Parker?

Thoughts? What "family" of names would you say it falls into? Too much of a surname for a first name?

It's the new popular name. Started growing in popularity in the last ten months or so. I work in paediatrics and it's fascinating to see the trends in names.

lovelyjubilly · 22/12/2017 17:49

Surname to me.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 22/12/2017 18:11

I’ve always loved Cooper as a first name but Bot a fan of Parker at all, sorry.

RavenWings · 22/12/2017 20:06

Very American name imo. I think of nosy Parker or Peter Parker (Spiderman) when I hear it. I don't like it.

kaytee87 · 22/12/2017 20:35

My friends dog is Parker so I think of it as a pets name.

buttercup54321 · 22/12/2017 22:32

Nosey Parker!!

brizzledrizzle · 22/12/2017 22:48

Another vote for Thunderbirds.

NotAgainYoda · 23/12/2017 07:38

Falls into American , faddy, child-of-a-celebrity

NotAgainYoda · 23/12/2017 07:39

Mike

Grin

Parka is much more feminine

PaperBagPrincesa · 23/12/2017 07:40

It's a very ordinary sur name. Don't see its appeal as a first name at all.

PaperBagPrincesa · 23/12/2017 07:44

What did the northern actress from cold feet call her daughtr? Was it parker? 20 years ago i remember thinking whaaat, yuuuck!
But now at least there are more of them.

SequinsOnEverything · 23/12/2017 08:21

I like it. We considered it, but had a girl.

I think Peter parker aka spiderman not thunderbirds by the way.

MiniMaxi · 23/12/2017 09:01

I know of one Parker, who lives in the US

It's very American and obviously is originally a surname but those aren't bad things if you like the style

guiltynetter · 23/12/2017 09:02

i like it :)

Joeybee · 23/12/2017 09:42

It sounds way too American for me to use. I quite like the sound of the name though, for a girl.

Ginorchoc · 23/12/2017 09:44

I like it! Unusual but not too out there.

FizzyGreenWater · 23/12/2017 09:45

No!

It's just a very ugly sound.

Means lots of different things - doesn't really seem much like a name. Lots of associations.

No good short form. Par? Park? Err no.

WildCherryBlossom · 23/12/2017 10:35

I know one. Adult, male, 40s and American.

Unnoticed · 23/12/2017 22:21

It makes me think of Pheobe’s over enthusiastic boyfriend in Friends - played by Alec Baldwin.

BewareOfDragons · 23/12/2017 22:25

I like it.

Boys I know called Parker seem nice.

Pixilicious · 23/12/2017 22:28

I like it but only for a girl

elQuintoConyo · 23/12/2017 22:34

Booth's son in Bones. But then he was Seeley, Bones was Temperance... They were all mad!

Parker is horrible for a boy or a girl, really harsh.

Courgettekatie · 23/12/2017 22:43

Not keen, but it’s the name of one of the quints in America and has grown on me through seeing the baby. She’s Parker Kate, the other names are Hazel, Olivia, Ava, Riley and big sister Blake.

BikeRunSki · 23/12/2017 22:52

Thunderbirds!

MajesticWhine · 23/12/2017 23:28

It's more a surname. In the same gang as Raydon, Riley, Bailey, Hunter and Mason.
