From a TV programme the other night:

Dot

But only if your child is likely to be small and slight - I don't think Dot would work on a large person!

I am surprised nobody has suggested Ann, which is classically lovely.

Not to my taste but also Nan? Kay?

I agree that it is terribly limiting. I also wouldn't like my name as a younger sibling to be dependent on that of an elder sibling. Maybe choose a name you love without restriction and then shorten a nickname or use initials if you want a three-letter bit.

Lea, Lee, Rae, Jea, Jay, Gee, Dee, Pia.

Some really lovely names there - i esp. like Mia, Ivy and Eva. Thanks for your suggestions!

Reason I’m goung for a short name is I’ve got a loooong surname so needed something short - obviously I could go for 4/5 letter names but I quite liked the symmetry of 2 lots of 3 letters, if they doesn’t make me sound too odd!!

Ina is an old Scottish girls' name. I don't like it but it fits the brief!

Pat, Pam, Sam, Sue, Jen, Jan, Til, Bex, Rae, Zoe, Mel, Pip, Nic, Bet, Win - all nicknames really, and many of them out of favour at the moment anyway.

Eve would be my choice.
