Leo or Alexander

DC3 due in a few months and these names have jumped out at us so far. Already have a DS and DD with quite traditional (one biblical) names.

Interested in some opinions please to help us decide....

I like both, but Alexander would probably have the edge for me.

smellybeanpole · 10/12/2017 23:32

Leo.

DiegoMadonna · 10/12/2017 23:32

Leo.

ChocolateCrunch · 11/12/2017 06:28

Leo

Flumplet · 11/12/2017 06:38

Alexanders are all over the shop these days therefore I’d go for the slightly less popular/common Leo. Plus I quite like Leo. If I didn’t already have a theo it would be top of my list for if this baby I’m having were to be a boy.

BillywilliamV · 11/12/2017 06:52

I thought I had an Alexander until she was born. I love it, “Xander” is cool when he is a teenager. I do like Leo as well though.

userabcname · 11/12/2017 06:54

Ooh I like both. I really like Alexander but not a fan of 'Alex' so for that reason I'll vote Leo too.

FixItUpChappie · 11/12/2017 06:54

I think Leo is too personally, Alexander is classic and timeless

FixItUpChappie · 11/12/2017 06:55

too popular that should say Hmm

pipilangstrumpf · 11/12/2017 06:55

Leo

Alex is a little dull, so common for boys and girls

Bizarroworld · 11/12/2017 07:04

Alexander nn Xander

deptfordgirl · 11/12/2017 07:31

I actually think Alexander is less common around here. I have met quite a few baby Leos, seems to be quite trendy at the moment. I say go with Alexander.

LastOneDancing · 11/12/2017 08:08

Leo.
Great name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/12/2017 08:31

Leo Alexander.

moggle · 11/12/2017 08:51

These were our front runners when we were expecting DC1, who turned out to be a girl. Funny this time we're expecting twin boys and I don't think will be using either. Still like them but I find Alexander a mouthful and I know I'll shorten it and as another poster says, don't like Alex as much. Plus there have been a few baby alexanders born to various friends. Leo I still do really love but there are a lot round here in Surrey.... might still have an outside chance...

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/12/2017 09:03

Alexander.

I prefer Alexander, although I don't dislike Leo.

17caterpillars1mouse · 11/12/2017 09:42

Alexander

I know 1 under 5 Alexander but several Leo's

Also love Zander

itsgoingtoofast · 11/12/2017 09:51

Thanks everyone!

It's a tough one. I don't know any Leos around here but do know a couple of Alexs. Maybe a regional thing. I'm not so keen on Zander but I do quite like Alex, Sandy etc.... I feel like it's a name that can change over time but I suppose you don't get much choice on what his friends decide to shorten it too which is a consideration!

I do love Leo Alexander....

It is quite out there for me, I'm usually much more drawn to classical and more old fashioned names but there is just something about it that I like! Still torn...

Might be worth bearing in mind that Leo has been more popular/common that Alexander over the last few years, so for your baby's generation, it will be the more common name.

OhChill · 11/12/2017 16:51

Leo for me.

I really like both and want to use Alexander as a middle name for dc2, (due next month). But I’m a bit bored of Alexander as a first name. I seem to hear it a lot where I live. I also dislike Xander / Zander / Sander as a shortening, so would rule it out for that reason.

minipie · 11/12/2017 16:53

Leo

I like both names but really dislike Xander which seems to be the current preferred nickname.

Leo is awesome

SantaStuckInTheChimney · 11/12/2017 17:27

Love both.

I think I would go with Leo.

midsomermurderess · 11/12/2017 19:53

Alexander, and it has a lot of contractions, my favourites being Xander and Sasha.

MikeUniformMike · 11/12/2017 21:17

I like both.
Leo might be a bit 'trendy'
I don't like Xander but I like Al, Alec, Alex, Sandy and Sasha.

DramaAlpaca · 11/12/2017 22:43

I like both, but I prefer short names so I'd go for Leo.
