It reminds me of Bugsy Malone too, but I really dislike it. Sorry.

franktheskank · 09/12/2017 19:36

Any reason why? Just the general sound or does it conjure up something in your head?

I don't like it because it reminds me of the whole Tallulah-does-the-hula-from-hawaii thing. The nn tally I do quite like though.

eastlondoner · 09/12/2017 19:38

I like the actual name as I loved Tallulah from Bugsy Malone but I wouldn't use it for one of my children. Mainly because I always thought Tallulah was a hooker so the name has that association.

franktheskank · 09/12/2017 19:39

Gummy goddess what's tallulah does the hula from Hawaii?

For some reason I always think Tallulah Bankhead when I hear the name. Bearing in mind she died when I was only 2 I'm not sure why. Confused

But yes, Tallulah does the hula etc etc. Not keen I'm afraid.

GummyGoddess · 09/12/2017 19:55

This - there was a little girl in NZ named this, different spelling of Tallulah, who was temporarily removed from her parents until they changed her name as at 9 years old she was miserable with it.

I probably would have liked Tallulah if I didn't have that information in my head, but I may be in the minority and nobody else would even think it.

AnyaMoondial · 09/12/2017 20:11

The only tallulah I've known absolutely LOVED her name, her sister Amy was really jealous it wasn't her name.

Mrsknackered · 09/12/2017 20:15

I love it! I wouldn't use it, but always feel a bit happy when I hear of one.

I actually know 4 too aged 22, 21, 15 and 12. So not hugely uncommon either.

Mayhemmumma · 09/12/2017 20:17

Tallulah and Lola are the most popular names at my children's school by far.

For me it's a bit of a mouthful.

JaneWonder · 09/12/2017 20:20

There is one in my daughters class. I think it’s a very happy sounding name. Her parents are quite hipster so I guess I associate it with happy hipster types.

AnaChocolatte · 09/12/2017 20:22

It has a nice musicality to it.

But I think it sounds very showbiz / unsubstantial to me. I wouldn't like to be called it myself which I think is a bit of an acid test when it comes to names.

zoomer445 · 09/12/2017 20:25

I love it. If I had another DD I would use it X

zoomer445 · 09/12/2017 20:26

That or Tabitha X

franktheskank · 09/12/2017 20:31

I have a Tabitha already! Grin

Tallulah does the hula thing doesn't bother me at all 😂 what a strange story .

It's a name I've always liked and suggested but others have pulled it at the last minute every time. (I have 7 children childrenGrin)

I like Kitty too. And Dh loves Penelope.

Love Tallulah!

SpecialAgentDaleCooper · 09/12/2017 20:35

You could always use it as a middle name if others aren't keen.

I know a Ruby Tallulah

BabloHoney · 09/12/2017 20:38

There’s a Tallulah at my son’s nursery, nickname Tali which I think is quite cute. Though I’ve also seen Kitty is on your list, LOVE Kit for a boy or a girl! X

AccrualIntentions · 09/12/2017 20:39

I know an adult one. Honestly, people did take the piss a bit.

NoelNiki · 09/12/2017 20:47

It's one of Bruce Willis daughters names.

Why not. I like it.

LadyWithLapdog · 09/12/2017 20:52

I love Tallulah. Tallulah Bankhead had an interesting life, I can't remember if that's why I liked the name. I wanted it for my first 18 years ago, but he was a boy. Then other names seemed more suitable with the others and Tallulah at one stage was quite popular in our area. It's a lovely name.

Justgivemesomepeace · 09/12/2017 20:56

A colleague has a daughter named Tallulah Belle, known as Lula. I was a bit Hmm at first but quite like it now.

Enidblyton1 · 09/12/2017 20:59

I like it, but not fond of the nickname Tally.

LunasSpectreSpecs · 09/12/2017 21:14

Not a fan. It's a fluffy, cutesy, girlie name which would suit a toddler, not so much a 40 something woman.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 09/12/2017 21:17

I don't like names that sound too sexy. I think people would have preconceptions that a Tallulah would be some kind of femme fatale. And she well may grow up to be anything but.
