Thoughts on these boy names please

• Guy
• Gregor - we aren’t Scottish. Would it be weird to use anyway?
• Jesse - Dh isn’t sold on this as he says it’s a girl name? I think of it as a boy name.
• Cyrus - I think there’s a serial killer in a soap of this name and also an evil monk in the Dan Brown books? It doesn’t massively bother me, as I don’t watch soaps or read Dan Brown novels, but happy to hear other opinions.
• Bennett - not my usual taste tbh, but I love this!
• Jacob - I’m not in love with Jake though... I would probably shorten to Jay or not at all. Obviously I know he might get Jake anyway. I can live with it.
• Matthew - probably my least favourite, but I can’t quite bring myself to take it off the list...

Matthew is my favourite on your list. Timeless and classic, a strong name but not to harsh.

I have a Cyrus. Don't know any in rl and 1 in the film Con Air!! Didn't put me off, whatever you choose someone will have something to say about it!!

Love Matthew - Matty is sweet for a baby/child and Matt is good for teen/adult. Don’t particularly like the others.

Not keen on any but like Jacob the best.

I love Jesse and regret not using it.

I know a baby Rupert IRL, goes by Roo, cute, love it.
Don't see Guy as a baby name (I know that s ridiculous all adult Guy's must've been babies at some point etc)
Gregor is ok, but same issue as Guy for me
We liked Jesse for DS, but can see where your DH is coming from
Not a big fan of Cyrus - makes me think of Miley
Bennett's ok, bit unusual, though he'll probably end up as Ben
Same with Jacob/Jake
Like Matthew a lot, again we liked it for DS but it's BIL's name so we decided not to.

Jesse sounds a little feminine to me and I dislike Matthew (the ew part) and really dislike Matt.

Oh I probably should have mentioned; I’m Irish, have never celebrated Guy Fawkes / bonfire night and I doubt I ever will. So, obviously, the “belongs on a bonfire” connotation doesn’t really mean so much to me. Is Guy Fawkes still a really negative connotation in England then? I guess it must be if people want to burn him every year - yikes!

My English DH was the one who suggested Guy though .

Also thanks again for comments and help! I’m still bamboozled tbh. I like them all a lot.
