We have DS1 who is called Arthur. Looking for a name that goes well with Arthur and fits in with the classic, traditional style.

DS2 is here and we just aren't sure what to call him. What do people think of this list?

William - both love it, but it is perhaps a bit popular?
James - Again, possibly a bit popular (though I don't know of any!)
Louis - I like it a lot, pronounced Louie.
Benjamin - perhaps my least favourite.
Robert - I like that this is less common.

William. Love it

Hillbillyhotel · 25/11/2017 19:52

I love William. FWIW,I immediately thought of Edward. Congratulations!xx

Polarbearpaddle · 25/11/2017 19:54

William ia a great name as is Robert, and Will and Rob aren't awful nicknames either

GodIsDead · 25/11/2017 19:55

You could always go with Liam which is Irish for William and classic but less popular.

FrayedHem · 25/11/2017 20:02

My favourites are William and Benjamin. Although his career is hanging by a thread James Arthur was an X-Factor singer I don't much care for and that would put me off using James. Only for that reason it's a lovely name too.

PhuntSox · 25/11/2017 20:32

Like both William and Robert.

Also, Edward, Hector, Laurence, Michael and of course Lancelot!

ChocolateCrunch · 25/11/2017 20:45

James or Benjamin - don't know any babies/toddlers with either of these names, but know quite a few named William or Louis. Not a fan of Robert, sorry.

Elmo303 · 25/11/2017 21:17

I have an Arthur and a Max, love their names together Smile

NataliaOsipova · 25/11/2017 21:21

James is my favourite. But I like William and Robert (bit more unusual) as well.

ladybirdsaredotty · 25/11/2017 21:59

Louis and Benjamin were both on our very short list. Went with one of them Smile

Codlet · 25/11/2017 22:13

William is my favourite

pipilangstrumpf · 25/11/2017 22:30

I don't like the Willi part of William.

Robert is a great underused classic!

BlueChampagne · 25/11/2017 23:35

Iwanttousethatname · 26/11/2017 06:07

(I only know one little William and frequent a lot of baby groups etc there isn't one in my DC's school either)

MrsGB2225 · 26/11/2017 06:22

William

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/11/2017 08:06

If you love William go with William :)

For what it's worth I know 5 Arthur's who are under 3 and only one William

CakeRattleandRoll · 26/11/2017 13:20

Robert is great.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/11/2017 13:26

William is lovely, and Will is a great shortening.

I like Louis as well.

pipilangstrumpf · 26/11/2017 21:22

Doesn't will sound lovely me a verb, as in will you? And isn't it so close to willy Blush? Maybe it's just me.

pipilangstrumpf · 26/11/2017 21:22

Sorry, like a verb (silly auto correct)

NameChange30 · 26/11/2017 21:29

James is my favourite, lovely name and works for all ages. Also, it's a king's name like Arthur.

William goes well too - I could be displaying my ignorance here but I can't think of any famous kings called William, although there's obviously Prince William and William the Conqueror, so it's definitely royal/historical!

I really like Benjamin (Art and Ben) but it's more biblical than regal.

NameChange30 · 26/11/2017 21:31

PS I don't like Louis, partly because of the potential for spelling/pronunciation confusion.

SilverUnicorn · 26/11/2017 21:32

I like William. I know of some toddlers who refer to themselves as Will-I-Am, so cute. I wouldn’t worry about its popularity if you love it. I love Louis too.

Other names I love are Joseph, Albert, Charles, Chester and Jacob.

AlmostChristmas · 26/11/2017 22:19

Louis is nice but very popular at the moment also!
