Hamish, Ralph or Gilbert?

Four weeks to go and we're down to our final three, a mix of mine and DH's favourites. (Won't say which is mine in case I need to use this thread in evidence against himGrin). Which one do you prefer? Thanks!

I like them all but have a particular soft spot for Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables fan 💕)

AdaColeman · 01/11/2017 20:53

Ralph, though I prefer the Rafe pronunciation.

Hamish.

I'm not keen on the other two, but I do like Hamish.

Depends if you watch Neighbours! They have a portly little villainous old man called Hamish. Ralph is nicer.

PandorasXbox · 01/11/2017 22:02

Gilbert by a long way.

WolfieInTheWoods · 01/11/2017 22:05

Ralph (love Ralphie as a nn) and Gilbert (love Bert as nn).

Please don't use Hamish. I think it's horrible and reminds me of a horse (sorryGrin)

NannyR · 01/11/2017 22:06

Definitely Hamish, it's a lovely name.

BabloHoney · 01/11/2017 22:07

Hamish
Is a lovely word to say and it's a name that can suit a wide range of personalities IMO.
Makes me think of Robert Carlyle's very lovely Hamish Macbeth.
Am presuming you have a Scottish connection? To be honest I would find it a slightly odd for someone without one to call their child Hamish. Not in a judgey way I don't think, I would just automatically assume there was some sort of link.

pipilangstrumpf · 01/11/2017 22:46

Ralph! Strong, manly and international.

Really don’t like Hamish, it sounds like an adjective to me and just not like a mans name.

pipilangstrumpf · 01/11/2017 22:47

Also, would Hamish be known as Ham?!

Woody67 · 01/11/2017 22:49

My son’s friend is Hamish. He is generally known as Hamish. Never heard referred to as Ham! Grin

SundayNC · 01/11/2017 22:51

Ralph is adorable

SuperBeagle · 01/11/2017 22:53

Gilbert.

Don't like Ralph or Hamish at all. Hamish is surprisingly popular where I live (Australia). I know loads of them.
