Livia or Lyvia

I really like the Y in it, but I'm afraid people will pronounce it incorrectly.

I assume it’s pronounced like Olivia without the “O”?

If so I’d use the first spelling. If I saw Lyvia I’d think Lye-veea.

Lyvia also autocorrects to Lucia which might give the occasional issue.

OrlandaFuriosa · 01/11/2017 02:00

Livia. It’s the original one and less confusing.

rizlett · 01/11/2017 03:30

I like the Y - and it will be pronounced however you and Lyvia say it.

sofato5miles · 01/11/2017 03:33

Livia

PressPaws · 01/11/2017 04:23

Livia

Catalufa · 01/11/2017 04:24

I’d say Livia. Lydia is a y though, and also very pretty.

ProseccoMamam · 01/11/2017 04:44

Livia
Lyvia is a bit showey and looks foreign - not that that would be a bad thing, but could be quite confusing for her with nursery/friends ect. It also hurts my eyes so that’s probably why I don’t like the look of it Grin

ChangingStates · 01/11/2017 06:01

Livia, agree with pp the lyvia May end up being pronounced lyevia, also if shortened Liv is better than Lyv (pronounced live)

Mouthfulofquiz · 01/11/2017 06:06

It makes me think of Clivia, the houseplant! But I think it's really nice. I prefer Livia.

SuperBeagle · 01/11/2017 07:01

Livia, absolutely.

Livia is a name with a lot of history. It'd be bizarre to misspell it.

Chaffinch4 · 01/11/2017 07:46

The y and the v next to each other in Lyvia look odd. I prefer Livia.

EssentialHummus · 01/11/2017 08:37

Livia

We used a y in dd1 name that also could be an i as I like y's - but agree with a pp that the y and v close together doesn't look right.

Livia is a lovely name Smile

BroomstickOfLove · 01/11/2017 10:06

Livia.

bridgetreilly · 01/11/2017 10:23

Livia.

No ys in Latin.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/11/2017 10:29

Livia. The letters V and Y look odd together IMO.

rizlett · 01/11/2017 11:04

Looks like I'm on my own with liking the Y.

Though not so bad as Yvette has a Y and a V together too.

DiegoMadonna · 01/11/2017 11:05

Livia, without a doubt.

viques · 01/11/2017 11:10

Livia. Lyvia will need a clumsy curly y to join, try it , it looks awful, she will be stuck with an ugly signature for life.

Appuskidu · 01/11/2017 11:10

Livia definitely. You/she will forever be correcting spelling and pronunciation otherwise.

FizzyGreenWater · 01/11/2017 12:18

The correct way - Livia.

I'd pronounce Lyvia as Lie-vee-a.

HipToBeSquare · 01/11/2017 13:16

The correct way - Livia

Hate it when this tosh is trotted out. Like words and names don't evolve or only in Britain they shouldn't Hmm

BabyOrSanta · 01/11/2017 13:22

I like the look of Lyvia but Livia would cause less hassle throughout DCs life with spelling and pronunciation

stopbeingadramallama · 01/11/2017 13:29

Y and V look weird together.

Livia is better.

Sounds like the lazy way of saying Olivia tho.
