Still haven't named week old daughter

Hi

My baby girl is over a week old and we still haven't settled on a name for her. We thought we would name her Violet, but we're not sure she looks like one, and various family members have told us how horrible the name is!

So our current shortlist is
Anna
Violet
Catherine (Kitty)
April
Thea

Any thoughts/opinions /suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Violet or Anna.

NataliaOsipova · 29/10/2017 12:51

Anna is my favourite. Kitty isn't an obvious diminutive of Catherine, but Catherine is a lovely (and not often used these days) name.

NC4now · 29/10/2017 12:53

Catherine/Kitty for me. It’s my favourite girl’s name. She can chose Kate or Kat when she gets older too.

ladybirdsaredotty · 29/10/2017 12:58

Congratulations OP! I haven't named my 10-day-old son, either.

Please don't listen to family, I'm biased but Violet is gorgeous. So are the other names but make sure you go with what YOU love Smile

In order, I like:
Thea
Violet
Catherine (Kitty)
Anna.

I don't really like April at all, sorry.

Have you thought about Viola, rather than Violet?

BackforGood · 29/10/2017 15:19

I like Thea, Catherine (but not Kitty if she isn't a kitten), and Anna.

Not at all keen on calling a child the name of a month. REally don't like Violet - not least for the ease it turns into 'vile' for anyone who wants to be nasty to her

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 29/10/2017 17:03

Thea or Anna

Ionarocks · 29/10/2017 17:34

Love Anna but they're all nice.

DramaAlpaca · 29/10/2017 17:37

Anna is my favourite, or Catherine/Kitty.

Violet would be a lovely middle name for either of those.

Holdtightdontletgo · 29/10/2017 17:42

Anna or Catherine for me. Don't like Violet at all.

MikeUniformMike · 29/10/2017 17:47

Anna or Catherine.
Violet is nice but will be pronounced Vile-et and it's only one letter away from Violent.
April? It's October.
Thea. I don't like it.

CPtart · 29/10/2017 18:03

Anna or Catherine in it's entirety (don't like Kitty).

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/10/2017 20:09

My Son introduced me, to a very lovely Viola, recently.
I love Catherine, and Anna.

SuperBeagle · 29/10/2017 20:23

I love Anna, Violet and Catherine, but I don't like Kitty at all.

So that leaves Anna and Violet. Violet is having a resurgence in popularity and might become "dated" in the future because of it, so I would pick Anna. Anna is enduring, timeless, classic and not overly popular.

ANIDOO · 29/10/2017 20:28

Kitty! Such a beautiful name, and not too common. Congratulations Smile

OpenThePickles · 29/10/2017 20:38

Anna is a beautiful name. I also like Catherine.

iamghosted · 29/10/2017 21:01

Anna Catherine

Thea Kitty.

Beautiful names op.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 30/10/2017 06:55

OP,

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, too, btw! Flowers

thegirlupnorth · 30/10/2017 07:53

I wouldn't use Catherine as it can be spelt so many different ways, she will spend her whole life having to spell it. My fave is Anna.

kaytee87 · 30/10/2017 08:21

Anna or Katharine (I prefer this spelling especially with a K nn)

PandorasXbox · 30/10/2017 09:34

Thea is gorgeous so that would be my choice. Then Anna.

Congratulations Flowers

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/10/2017 09:35

Have you decided OP ?

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 30/10/2017 09:38

Catherine with a K Wink seriously though either spelling it's a really underused name now which is a shame because it's beautiful. Go for it!

handonhip · 30/10/2017 16:37

Catherine or Anna. Congratulations!

MrsHarker · 31/10/2017 14:51

Kitty!
