Wren (for a boy?)

DD has been watching a TV show that has a male Wren in it, she likes it for DS. What do you think?

It's not to my taste, I don't hate it though. I imagine lots of people will be horrified that a typically girls name might be used for a boy.

People might think it's Ren, as in Ren & Stimpy!

Your DS or her DS? I only know it as a girls name but if it is her baby then it is ger choice.

Pretty Little Liars? I'm not sure I'd use it but I do like it for that character

I know a couple who named their boy Wren. I quite like it on a boy. I think it's quite unique.

I guess it's a bit of a unisex name like Robin; it could work for either a boy or girl.

My sister named me. I hated the name. She also kept reminding me in the superior way only older siblings can. It also felt sad that my parents took time to name her but left the job for naming me to a 3yr old. Much happier with my new name. Buy her a teddy, she names the teddy, you name your son.

@shouldwestayorshouldwego buy a 17 year old a teddy? I obviously wouldn't name my son a name she has picked, I have to like it too. Unfortunately, I have no DP, so it's nice to discuss names with her.

AFAIK it's mostly used as a girls name so no, I wouldn't.

I think of it as feminine but that's perhaps because I've only come across girls named Wren.

If I heard it in public I'd think you actually named him after Ren from Footloose.

I don't like it (Wren or Ren!). It's a bit wet tbh.

Even worse if she is 17 to be honest. The role of naming a child should be one for the parent not a 17yr old (unless her child) or a bunch of randoms on the internet

I love the name Wren for a girl, but Ren for a boy, as in Lorenzo/Lawrence.
Or how about Rad/Conrad, or Bram ?
I think it's lovely that your daughter is taking an interest in naming her brother.

I would def spell it Ren for a boy. I like it- i can imagine it working well for a boy or man. It's quite cool and different. Bit of a Star Wars link too - kylo Ren.

I'm not sure how it would work for a teenage boy or man. However, it'd be a very apt nickname for a baby - small but unbelievably loud!

I like Wren, more for a girl but it's fine for a boy too IMO. Why do boys have to have hulking great macho names? It won't stop him being a rugby player if he wants to be.
