Wren (for a boy?)

DD has been watching a TV show that has a male Wren in it, she likes it for DS. What do you think?

I think @shouldwestayorshouldwego has the best view point here given they were named by a sibling and resents it (regardless of the name).

Awful name for a boy or a girl. Ask a few grown men if they’d like to be called it as that would probably help.

No I don’t like it. Cute for a small little boy/baby. Terrible (imo) for a fully grown man.

On the other hand Ren as a nn for Lorenzo/Lawrence as mentioned by PP is lovely and your Ds can choose whether to take that through to adulthood rather than be saddled with it

Wren would be automatically assumed to be female. Do you think this would bother you and/ or your son?

I think Ren is a male name but that makes me think of the godawful 90s cartoon Ren and Stimpy eurgh

I only like it for a girl. Like pps, if I met a male wren I might think ren, as in ren and stimpy.

If you ever visit the Corams Fields Foundling Hospital they have lists of names that they renamed children with. One list is birds names, Lark,Linnet, Wren, Robin, all used for girls, I personally like birds names, but not little brown bird names for boys. Though Finch might be rather nice.

I quite like it but maybe as a shorter version of a longer name, as mentioned by others.

Don't get the angst over siblings suggesting names. My 3 and 6 year olds are suggesting for this baby. Obviously we have the veto and will go with what we want in the end, but it's nice for them to feel involved. Especially at 17, I'd imagine!

Kevin bacons character in Footloose was Ren McCormack. Always loved his name and I grew up loving the film. I think the names great for a male.. I also watch pretty little liars though so I've heard it more for a make than female, great name for either sex :)

I love Wren for a boy. I knew the name would be from PLL as I loved that show (until the final episode where I wanted to reclaim the last however many years of my life)!

I'm thinking that actually Wren for a boy (and Ezra ... another characters name) will be really popular the next few years.
