Not Margaret...would be Maggie.
Immediate thought...Simpsons right??
Don't think I'm sold, neither is dh but we have nothing so anything goes right now.
What you all think?

It's a yes from me.

TheQueenOfWands · 09/10/2017 21:12

I think of Maggie Esmeralda from AHS Freak Show.

Or Maggie from The Walking Dead.

I love it. It's one of my favourite names.

Mum2jenny · 09/10/2017 21:18

A no from me for Maggie, but have you considered Marguerite, Magnolia, Madalena, rather than Margaret? There are other options if you google it though.

addler · 09/10/2017 21:23

I LOVE Maggie. It’s near the top of my list.

OyyVeyy · 09/10/2017 21:25

Makes me think first of Margaret Thatcher - which to me is not good. At all.

But then the Simpsons & Rod Stewart - which is better! Smile

Well you did ask.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 09/10/2017 21:25

I'm of an age that it's still ... Thatcher for me. So a no.

Tollygunge · 09/10/2017 21:26

Thatcher. Ewwww

Liadain · 09/10/2017 21:26

In certain places Maggie automatically = Thatcher - it definitely does to me. I'm not loving it on that basis.

DandySeaLioness · 09/10/2017 21:26

reminds me of the Maggi sauce and maggie gyllenhaal

xflipflopx · 09/10/2017 21:30

Oh I forgot about Thatcher! Confused
Just don't know if Maggie would suit for all stages especially teens.
Haven't considered any of those names mum2jenny they seem about out there to me.
Thanks though.

I think I like it- quite classic but underused.

I say 'think' because I'm not sure about the harsh 'gg' sound.

RaininSummer · 09/10/2017 21:33

I like it a lot.

Rach5l · 09/10/2017 21:46

Gorgeous

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/10/2017 22:42

Very nice.

DramaAlpaca · 09/10/2017 22:44

I don't like it, I find it very harsh. And it reminds me of Thatcher.

Sophronia · 10/10/2017 00:41

Thatcher is my first thought.

Flippingecktucker · 10/10/2017 01:25

Maggie is a perennially cool name, I think.

Mrsknackered · 10/10/2017 01:29

I love it. No bad connotations over here.

Margaret Thatcher was no Maggie in my books.

pipilangstrumpf · 10/10/2017 07:55

Maggi is a well known cooking sauce.

I love Magdalena or Marguerite though!

bridgetreilly · 10/10/2017 10:33

I think Maggie is a great choice. She could still be Mags or Mag or whatever if she wants, and I don't think Maggie sounds too girly or informal if she needs a serious professional name later in life.

And Maggie Thatcher is a LONG time ago. By the time your Maggie is grown up, it'll be like someone called Winston now.

Smoliver · 10/10/2017 11:04

I knew a Maggie at school as a teenager who really didn't like her name. I think she's okay with it now though as an adult.

I always thought it was cute though, so I guess it's to each their own with this name.

Pemba · 10/10/2017 11:38

The 'ag' sound is very harsh. That's why I don't like Agatha or Agnes (in the English pronunciation) either. Also, it's not a complete name, but Margaret is a bit stuffy anyway. Also Thatcher.

Sorry!

Choccyhobnob · 10/10/2017 12:19

I really like it and can totally see it on a teenager

Rach5l · 10/10/2017 18:51

Megan?

NotAgainYoda · 10/10/2017 18:52

I love Maggie. Graet for all ages

I hates MT, but I'd still have it high on my list (would use Margaret)
