Sorry but why? Why choose names like those, the only vaguely ‘normal’ name is Monty and that’s pushing it.

I don’t get why people are obsessed with unusual names!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 04/10/2017 17:41

Art and Monty really are quite nice Smile

SprinkleOfInsanity · 04/10/2017 17:42

You can never win with names Angry can people not understand that everyone has different tastes?!

There will always be people saying "can't have a top ten/chavvy/posh name.. poor kid".

NotAgainYoda · 04/10/2017 17:43

If you like uncommon, what about:

Raphael
Levi
Roman
Guy

Ptol · 04/10/2017 17:43

Thanks sprinkle I'm not expecting everyone to like them. I think Bram and Art are the two I really love.

I like Art, Vito and Jean (but foresee issues in the UK with that)

Ptol · 04/10/2017 17:44

I don't dislike those yoda but they're not doing it for me- appreciate the suggestions though.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 04/10/2017 17:45

Monty
Anselm
Art

In that order. Percy still reminds me of the Blue Peter gardener - not a bad thing but it seems an "old" name.

SprinkleOfInsanity · 04/10/2017 17:46

Congratulations on your impending arrival btw Flowers

NotAgainYoda · 04/10/2017 17:46

Solomon
Cassius
Pascal

Rubyredfox · 04/10/2017 17:47

James
Henry
Kit

I know, I'm such a basic bitch 🤣

NotAgainYoda · 04/10/2017 17:47

Bram is the best, I agree

paxillin · 04/10/2017 17:48

Still, I'd make that Abraham or Arthur if I wanted a Bram or Art. Kids sometimes outgrow a pet name and it is nice to be able to go back to the full version.

NotAgainYoda · 04/10/2017 17:48

Yes, I would give a full name too

Ptol · 04/10/2017 17:49

RubyRedFox

Grin

Quite like Kit, not quite enough, but it's nice.

I also like Abe so Abraham could work for Abe or Bram.

SprinkleOfInsanity · 04/10/2017 17:52

Do you favourites work well with your surname?

formerbabe · 04/10/2017 17:53

What about Jayden? It's very popular on these boards...
Wink

InDubiousBattle · 04/10/2017 17:53

Are you in your early 20's op? I'm in my late thirties and, like pp think of Garfield as an 80's cartoon cat and I'm sorry but I hear Enoch and think Powell, rivers of blood.

Ptol · 04/10/2017 17:56

Thanks for the congratulations Sprinkle :)

I am in my mid 30s dubious. I do remember Garfield but know an adult Garfield and have always loved the name!

Formerbabe. Not a big fan of Jayden- no offence!

OP posts:
Ptol · 04/10/2017 17:57

Surname is relatively generic so most names go ok with it.

NameChange30 · 04/10/2017 18:01

I like the idea of using Abraham so he has the option of Abe or Bram as nicknames.

paxillin · 04/10/2017 18:04

Abraham means you can call him Abe/ Bram, but if he is in trouble, you get to yell "ABRAHAM MIDDLENAME PTOLSSON" up the stairs for extra effect.

LittleMouseontheDairy · 04/10/2017 18:04

I know a Joby! To me it's obvious it would rhyme with Toby Confused
Would have presumed most people would realise it wouldn't rhyme with 'hobby' because it doesn't have a double 'b'. But clearly not...

Anyway Joby is a charming, handsome, bright and sensitive boy and I've always loved his name so I'd choose that one! I also like Bram.

AgnesBrownsCat · 04/10/2017 18:09

They're very try hard names . The only ones I genuinely like are Percy and Monty . Joby is dreadful but Toby is ok.
