Which name is nicer? I like them both but doesn't Nina sound like a nick name?

Nina. -Ella names are v popular still. Plus she'll get nicknamed 'Gobby'. And Nina is both nice and underused.

TurquoiseChevrotain · 20/09/2017 14:58

Gabriella

Gabriella really isn't 'very popular' Confused she'd also not get 'Gobby' Hmm

Nina. Short sweet elegant pretty feminine. Not too common
What's not to love

Flowery25 · 20/09/2017 15:06

Nina sounds like a fire engine sound... Gabriella Smile

LostwithSawyer · 20/09/2017 15:10

Gabriella is much nicer.

bellsandwhistles89 · 20/09/2017 15:54

I have a friend called Nina, it is a lovely name and not used a huge amount. Gabriella I personally dont like as much but there is nothing wrong with it.

SingingSeuss · 20/09/2017 15:55

Another vote for Nina here.

yodelehoho · 20/09/2017 15:57

Is it nine-a or nee-naa?

I like nine-a. A lot.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/09/2017 16:23

Gabriella is lovely.

MammieBear · 20/09/2017 16:37

Gabriella, Nina is OK but a bit boring in comparison.

NearLifeExperience · 20/09/2017 16:45

Well if she's not called Gobby, a Gabriella would certainly be called Gabby, which is still pretty horrible.

I'd choose Nina.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 20/09/2017 16:49

Isabella.

Jooni · 20/09/2017 17:23

Nina. It's lovely and simple.

NinonDeLenclos · 20/09/2017 17:26

Gabriella by a mile.

Acidophilus · 20/09/2017 17:28

Nina is gorgeous. It's used in many cultures and it's timeless. It's also quite cool.

Gabriella will be known as Gabby which is an ugly sound to my ear.

Acidophilus · 20/09/2017 17:30

I also like Valentina nn Nina

NinonDeLenclos · 20/09/2017 17:34

Gabriella can also be Ella.

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/09/2017 20:31

I prefer Gabriella

mrsmc2017 · 20/09/2017 20:34

Both are nice but I prefer Gabriella

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 20/09/2017 20:37

Nina

littlecabbages · 20/09/2017 20:45

I LOVE Nina and it would be top of my list if it wasn’t DH’s sister’s name Angry

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 20/09/2017 20:51

OP,

Nina - elegant, classy and, no, I don't think it sounds only like an abbreviation/ NN (though of course it can be that, too).

I know a couple of 20/30somethings who were named Nina as a standalone.

yodel, I've only ever heard it pronounced, RL/ films/ tv etc. as "NEE-na", never "NYE-na".

stellarfox · 20/09/2017 22:04

Gabriella! Nina is ok but don't love it

Sophronia · 20/09/2017 22:10

Nina

Justgivemesomepeace · 20/09/2017 22:13

Gabriella is much prettier and classic. Gabby and Gabs aren't. Not keen on Nina.
