My husband and I can not decide on a baby name. But we have found one we Love!!!!! Here's the issue it's Grayson. Our surname is Gray. Would it be ridiculous to name a child Grayson Gray, (middle name to be decided). Please help

It would be pretty ridiculous yes. Sorry 😬

Twinkletwinkle4 · 02/09/2017 22:26

I actually quite like it!

sonlypuppyfat · 02/09/2017 22:26

Go on I dare you

mooneyboo · 02/09/2017 22:26

I actually find that quite cool. Could imagine him getting called Gray-gray as a pet name.
It might raise a few eyebrows but if you like it then who cares.

Laniakea · 02/09/2017 22:27

yes it would be ridiculous

PrincessPlod · 02/09/2017 22:27

No way. Poor kid.

Threeandabit · 02/09/2017 22:28

Unfortunately, it doesn't work with your surname.

What about André or Gregor?

Sequence · 02/09/2017 22:28

Another no here, sorry.

SumAndSubstance · 02/09/2017 22:28

Of course it would be ridiculous!

KeepCalm · 02/09/2017 22:29

Oh please don't do that to the wee dote...

SuperBeagle · 02/09/2017 22:30

It'd be really ridiculous.

Like being called Will Williams or John Johnson.

He'd get the piss taken out of him, no doubt about that.

Hydrangea28 · 02/09/2017 22:42

I have said that it doesn't work. But our friends have convinced my husband that it's "a strong name" . I think it's a "wrong name".

Blooming typical to actually agree on a name that just doesn't fit!

It shows rather a lack of imagination, as much as anything else. The son of Mr Gray will be called... Grayson. Right.

strawberrypenguin · 02/09/2017 22:45

Nope sorry you can't do that to your child! What is it about it that you like - maybe we can help you find something similar

Rach5l · 02/09/2017 22:45

It sounds silly I guess but is not new

Magnus Magnussun??

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2017 22:46

Completely ridiculous.

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2017 22:47

"It might raise a few eyebrows but if you like it then who cares."

Well, the poor kid might care.

TittyGolightly · 02/09/2017 22:48

David Davis?

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 02/09/2017 22:49

I used to have clients (elderly) called William Williamson & John Johnson Grin.

Lovely gents but I did think it showed a certain lack of imagination of the behalf of their parents!

Argeles · 02/09/2017 22:49

I think it sounds great!

It's very American actor sounding.

lizzieoak · 02/09/2017 22:55

American actor sounding is not a good thing.

No from me, it's awful & he'll get teased.

Fandabidozy · 02/09/2017 22:58

I had a young girl next to me on the maternity ward who called her child Donald after her Dad which was all lovely until she told me his surname was McDonald (Not his real name but same idea).

Even the midwife remarked on how "unusual" it was. But she kept stating that since he had his Dad's surname she wanted to honour her family with his first name.

I often wondered what he thinks of it now he's a teenager or if someone managed to convince her to change it before registering.

igotyoubabe · 02/09/2017 23:01

Is that honestly a serious question? Hmm

Rach5l · 02/09/2017 23:19

Oh Donald McDonald is just fucking stupid. Poor kid

Phillip Phillipson
