Just that really
I like it but I can't help but feel it's a bit 90s?

It's about 3000 years old isn't it? Grin

I think it's a lovely timeless classic. Good choice.

NoCapes · 28/08/2017 19:32

Ha yes it is so I suppose feeling it's old is a bit daft isn't it Grin

I just feel it's like 'Ashley' or 'Lee' names you heard a lot of in the 80's/90's but not any more?
If that makes sense
But timeless classic is definitely what I'm going for

I have a Joshua and he's 17months much rathe rhve a strong classic timeless name than something silly.

minisoksmakehardwork · 28/08/2017 19:40

I have a Joshua who is 5. There is one who is 7 in his school. In our area it seems to be a regularly popular name without being overkill like the plethora of Lily-Mays from 2008!!

It's one of those old names that never really sounds old imo. We chose it simps because we liked it, and teamed it with Joseph as DH quite liked the idea of JJ as a nickname.

MiniAlphaBravo · 28/08/2017 19:43

No not at all, been around for ages and suits all ages. I know a couple of teens, a 40 something and a 6 yo called Joshua. It's lovely.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/08/2017 19:44

It's not like Lee! It's a classic name. You can't go wrong.

Alexkate2468 · 28/08/2017 19:47

Love it. It's a timeless classic.

NannyR · 28/08/2017 19:50

It's a gorgeous name, nothing like Lee or Ashley (not that there's anything wrong with Lee or Ashley!)

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2017 19:50

Definitely a homeless classic

felicitychambers · 28/08/2017 19:51

I love it as a name but is really popular if that bothers you.

There are 3 in my DCs class of 30 children.

Lenl · 28/08/2017 19:52

I hope not, my almost 10 week old is called Joshua! Though we mostly call him Josh.

I had the same thoughts as you but everyone is really positive about his name. I think it is fairly timeless and although probably was more popular in the nineties it's not entirely dated.

Perfectly1mperfect · 28/08/2017 19:52

I know lots of Joshua's between 10 and 15 years old. I think it's still in the top 20 boys names though just that it used to be in the top 5 or so.

Its a nice name.

userofthiswebsite · 28/08/2017 19:54

Who cares? If you like it, you like it, I don't think it matters a jot whether the name is on-trend, it's not like you're calling them Rubbish Bin.

These things are cyclical anyway.

FWIW I believe it to be a nice solid name.

outofmymind26 · 28/08/2017 19:59

Awww I have a 6 year old Joshua. He's Joshy most of the time, Joshua when he's in our bad books & Josh is what he refers to himself as & what his friends & teachers call him. Lovely name but obviously I'm biased. He's the only Josh in his year too which I was surprised about.

Viviennemary · 28/08/2017 20:00

I think it's nice name and not dated at all. What a relief to see a good name at last on here.

Coey2016 · 28/08/2017 20:06

Know a couple of little Joshua's so I don't consider it dated Smile

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/08/2017 20:25

homeless classic Grin

It's a lovely name, OP

Decaffstilltastesweird · 28/08/2017 20:39

I associate it with the 90s too for some reason. I don't know if anyone born now would though.

PonderLand · 28/08/2017 21:05

I love the name Joshua, there's a Dolly Parton song about a Joshua which I love!

BlueberryPuffin · 28/08/2017 21:29

It's been in the top 20 for at least the last 2 decades. So no, it's not just a 90s name.

Applesandpears56 · 28/08/2017 21:50

Not dated at all - love it

Sophronia · 28/08/2017 23:11

I think it's considered a bit dated in America where it was more popular in the 80s, but not really in the UK.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/08/2017 09:38

Great !

butterfly56 · 29/08/2017 09:42

Timeless classic name which I think is a lovely name

expatinscotland · 29/08/2017 09:42

'I think it's considered a bit dated in America where it was more popular in the 80s, but not really in the UK.'

Erm, no. It's a Biblical name. They don't 'date'. Hmm
