My partner loves Fergus for a little boy and I've been won over buy it I really like it, were both farmers and I think it's really Celtic! Does anyone know any Fergus's or think that it's awful! Really don't want a bullied child! Thanks xx

It's a great name !
I don't know any boys with this name. Children will always find a way to bully, regardless of a name.

Ameliablue · 28/08/2017 10:31

A friend's son is Fergus. I kind of like it, although probably not one I'd pick myself.

TuddlesAndSisses · 28/08/2017 10:32

I know a Fergus, he has Scottish grandparents and was named with them in mind. It really suits him!

pilates · 28/08/2017 10:36

Sounds good to me

ImDoingLaundry · 28/08/2017 10:37

I wouldn't choose it myself but I do really like it Smile

issy2165 · 28/08/2017 10:38

Thanks for the feedback! It's a bit iconic that we have Massey ferguson tractors as well😂

We've got one in the family, I love the name.

Urglewurgle · 28/08/2017 10:39

I'm sorry, my first thought was of Fungus the bogeyman.

Sodaface · 28/08/2017 10:43

I know two, it's a lovely name.

junebirthdaygirl · 28/08/2017 10:56

Quite regular in lreland where we also have Fergal. We wouldnt blink an eye at it even though we dont have it much these days. Go for it.

bridgetreilly · 28/08/2017 11:07

I think it's great. Could be Gus for short which I also really like.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 28/08/2017 11:10

I know a couple of Fergus's (Fergi?) but I'm in Scotland. I'm from a farming background and I have to admit I do think of Massey Fergusons when I hear it. Fergal is nicer IMO.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/08/2017 11:19

Yay for Fergie tractors! FIL has a TE20 he has restored himself Smile I prefer Fergal to Fergus but think it's nice and very apt to your profession.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2017 11:21

Love it

Llamacorn · 28/08/2017 11:26

I know a few here (Scotland) Not a strange name at all, if you like it - go for it! Perhaps leave out the link to your tractors when mentioning to people though Wink

And roundturn I had to laugh at Fergi 😂

issy2165 · 28/08/2017 11:35

Well that's decided then! Second name I was thinking John as it's my partners late grandad and it would be a lovely tribute to him

Fergus John is a good, solid name. Great choice

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 28/08/2017 14:20

Fergus is a guid Scots name. Know a few, mainly adults but two kids. I can't see why it would make anyone the target of bullying as I can't think of negative connotations (unless you think being a Scottish name is a negative?)Confused

BikeRunSki · 28/08/2017 14:24

I work with a Fergus. He's about 30, and not Scottish. I think it's a great name but I used to drive a Massey Ferguson tractor

mistermagpie · 28/08/2017 15:04

I live in Scotland which is probably relevant but I know I few Fergus's. I love the name, my DS would have been Fergus but we settled on Magnus instead as it's a bit less popular and I'm not fond of the nn Gus.

Sophronia · 28/08/2017 15:05

Fergus John is great

Notreallyarsed · 28/08/2017 15:06

I live in Scotland and know a few (inevitably shortened to Gus) I think Fergus John is a lovely name!

d270r0 · 28/08/2017 15:06

Hmmm. Sounds a bit like fungus.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/08/2017 15:06

Fergus John is a wonderful name! Love it!

Loyly · 28/08/2017 15:08

It's a really normal name and I don't find it strange.
