I was so pleased with the response about Billie for a girl but this one is a bit more 'unusual'

Link

I know you can lengthen it to be Lincoln but I don't like that so it would just be Link.

DH is a huge Zelda fan Grin

Just no.

I don't know what Zelda is, but the name of one's child is really not the place for parents to indulge their liking for films/games/series. It's not them who have to bear the lifelong consequences.

Lemondrop99 · 28/08/2017 08:23

Link would be fine as a shortening for Lincoln.

As a stand alone name, I really don't like it. What about using it for a middle name?

ineedamoreadultieradult · 28/08/2017 08:24

I would spell in Linc and have Lincoln as their full name.

ScarletSienna · 28/08/2017 08:27

I'd either use it as a middle name or not at all. The 'missing link' and 'weakest link' er, links, are too mean!

Gameofgnomes · 28/08/2017 09:41

super we watch Rhett and Link too.

His real name is Charles Lincoln so maybe the middle name could be an option.

I'm glad you have thick skin Op, the reason I haven't put down my name choices on a forum is people saying things like "yuck"

Just googled the origin of this name, as a surname it appears in German and Yiddish and means left handed. Link the character in Zelda is left handed :D what a cool Link ;)

As for the people saying 'missing Link' etc, children will name call any name even if it doesn't make sense.

Op if you love the name go for it, at least people will be able to pronounce it. I grew up with a Loek (Luke) who was forever saying it's not Lo-ek. That's worse to me than having a unique name.

Charles Lincoln sounds good but not Link that is awful, sorry

HingleMcCringleberry · 28/08/2017 10:52

You're bang on fantspants A few people saying that kids will call him the missing link, the weakest link. Yup. Probably. Kids will do anything to a name. But then you'll turn around and think it's OK to name your son Richard. Talk about having to bear the lifetime consequences of a parent's cruel choice!

auntym · 28/08/2017 11:21

Reminds me of link sausages.

Fantspants I've lurked the baby names threads for some time so I was prepared Grin
