Had every intention of calling our baby girl Jasmine until today my DP said, how about Darcey! Shock I love it!!

Which do you prefer?

Also any middle name ideas would be great Grin

Darcey! Love it.

Darcey Jasmine?

EvelynWardrobe · 22/08/2017 18:48

I prefer Jasmine, lots of Darceys around.

How many syllables is your surname?

3had0w · 22/08/2017 18:51

Thought maybe Darcey Jasmine or Jasmine Darcey but not particularly keen on the two names together either way round Confused

Last name is 2 syllables

Jasmine. Too many Darceys (of various spellings) around.

Pemba · 22/08/2017 18:54

I know Darcey is very popular for girls right now, but to me it is still a surname, and the first thing I think of is Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, so quite masculine. I much prefer Jasmine - very pretty.

3had0w · 22/08/2017 19:23

I don't know any Darcey's so didn't know it was popular Grin

notangelinajolie · 22/08/2017 19:26

Jasmine.

3had0w · 22/08/2017 19:27

Darcey Grace?

Jasmine Jayd?

OP posts:
Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/08/2017 19:28

Jasmine Grace.

DramaAlpaca · 22/08/2017 19:29

Jasmine by a million miles.

mmmmnuts · 22/08/2017 19:32

Jasmine by a long way.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/08/2017 19:35

I much prefer Jasmine. Jasmine seems beautifully classical to me whereas Darcey and all its spellings seems like it would date. They also both have a different feel so maybe wait to see which one suits baby. I would feel happy to learn a little girl was called Jasmine though but think 'not another one' on meeting a Darcey

Jooni · 22/08/2017 19:37

Jasmine! I think it's beautiful, and Yasmine too.

I really don't like Darcey/Darcy/Darcie at all, sorry.

toptomatoes · 22/08/2017 19:42

Jasmine

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2017 19:45

I'm not massively keen on either. But just so you know, neither of the names are massively popular, but there were nearly twice as many Darceys than Jasmines last year!

marmitecrumpets · 22/08/2017 19:46

Both are great

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 22/08/2017 20:10

Much prefer Jasmine.

Sophronia · 22/08/2017 20:23

I much prefer Jasmine!

rainbowterrier · 22/08/2017 20:33

Definitely Jasmine. It's a beautiful name. Darcey isn't. Sorry!

GinIsIn · 22/08/2017 21:00

Not Jasmine Jayd - that's terrible! Jasmine Grace?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/08/2017 21:04

Jasmine. Much nicer.

early30smum · 22/08/2017 21:07

Definitely Jasmine!

Theveryhungrybutterfly · 22/08/2017 21:16

Jasmine. A more classic, pretty, and classy name.

Darcey is a bit chav I'm afraid. I know MN doesn't like the term chav but meh. It's true.

Theveryhungrybutterfly · 22/08/2017 21:18

Also ps Jayd is not a name! Shock don't do it!
