My parents are Scottish and we would like to have a Scottish name for our little one( either first name or middle) what are your favourite Scottish or Gaelic names?

Eilidh or Eilish are both very pretty, along with Lorna and Kirsty.

For boys my choices would be Ross, Duncan, Jamie or Finlay.

I'm a Scot but didn't choose any Scottish names for my two!

KarineAimee · 26/07/2017 18:44

Flora and Fergus

imsorryiasked · 26/07/2017 18:46

Blair

Salmotrutta · 26/07/2017 18:49

Morgen
Catriona (pronounced Cat-Reena not Cat-Ree-Oh-nah Grin)
Elspeth
And yes to Flora too!

Hamish
Angus
Ruaraidh
Alistair

Salmotrutta · 26/07/2017 18:49

Morven!!

Not Morgen!!

flumpybear · 26/07/2017 18:50

We did the same, we have a Cameron James William

YolandasFridge · 26/07/2017 18:58

Struan, Blair

blackbird41 · 26/07/2017 19:01

Our son is called Glen. He loves his name because no one else is called it!

canihaveacoffeeplease · 26/07/2017 19:02

Fergus, Angus and Hamish for a boy
Isla for a girl

dementedma · 26/07/2017 19:03

Eilidh, Eilish,Isla, Ailsa are all very common now round here. Know quite a few older Kirstys but it seems to be out of favour with little ones.

I love Lachlan for boys, and there are quite a few Hamish, Fergus, Ruaridh,Angus where we are. Personally not keen on Cameron, Scott,Calum, Stewart etc
Jamie is kind of upper class Scottish ( and ruins the lovely name James)

TheScottishPlay · 26/07/2017 19:04

Girls:
Blythe
Eilidh
Kirstene
Fiona
Mhairi (Varry)
Mirren

Boys:
Duncan

Isla and Struan.

midsomermurderess · 26/07/2017 21:22

Marsali is pretty and so is Fiona, once virtually ubiquitous, not so much now. For a boy, Hector or Hamish or Innes.

YesILikeItToo · 26/07/2017 21:30

Did not know that Marsali was Scottish - you can miss these things if you live in Scotland!

I love Campbell.

midsomermurderess · 26/07/2017 21:42

Marsali is a form of Margery I think, and so much more pretty.

Mrsknackered · 26/07/2017 23:22

Iona, Eilish and Orla.

Hamish, Oisín and Shea.

Lifeofpies · 26/07/2017 23:38

My brother is an Innes, the only one I know. Have always loved it.

My favourites are Alastair/Alasdair and Bonnie

Sunbeam18 · 26/07/2017 23:42

Keir

Naegoodatinterviews · 26/07/2017 23:43

Kirsty, Fergus, Angus, Rhona, Corrie, Archie love them all.

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 26/07/2017 23:43

I love Ivor and Angus, both vetoed by DH 🙄🙄😢

SkyeCoo · 26/07/2017 23:46

Fairly certain Oisín and Orla are Irish, not Scottish

Strokethefurrywall · 26/07/2017 23:46

Fraser
Greer

Spartak · 26/07/2017 23:49

How is Struan pronounced?

user1487372252 · 26/07/2017 23:55

Lochlan, Malcolm (or Callum). Dh didn't like these for boy. I'd have loved them

Eilidh, Isla, Iona for girl.
