Where I live in Sweden it is a popular name but is usually pronounced Ar-da/Aaah-da

(3) because I know someone with that name and that's how she pronounces it.

1 is how it is traditionally pronounced. I've never heard anyone say adda. Sounds like the snake, to me.

Aida is pronounced eye - ee -duh, not Ada.

grufallosfriend · 26/07/2017 15:40

Depends where you live.

In Germany and Scandinavia it is Ah-da.

In English speaking countries it's Ay-da.

I'm guessing in French and Spanish it would be Ah-da too.

GoldenMalicious · 26/07/2017 15:41

If I saw the name written down I would assume the bearer was female, and that the name was pronounced as 1 on your list.

However, I work with a male Ada who pronounces his name like 3 on your list.
