This was the name of a character of a book I liked when I was younger.

Is it just too peculiar?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/07/2017 23:18

Yes, sorry OP.
How about Callie, or Lily ?

manicinsomniac · 24/07/2017 00:00

I like it as a nickname. Not as a name on its own.

Maybe for Layla or Lilianne/Liliana. At a real stretch Valerie, Alice, Alyssa, Lara or Lorelai.

buttercup54321 · 24/07/2017 00:04

Its awful.

Callie
Sally
Lily
Alice

Topseyt · 24/07/2017 02:54

Yes, I find it odd. It could also perhaps far too easily become "doolally", meaning idiotic.

Not really sure I would even consider it a name.

DownUdderer · 24/07/2017 03:57

I came on to say Doo-lally but I've been pipped at the post

Threeandabit · 24/07/2017 10:23

I used to work with somebody years ago with this name. Not sure of her nationality or how she spelt it though. For that reason I wouldn't think it was odd or think twice about the name really. Think she might have been Indian, and spelt it Lali.

hamariweb.com/names/hindu/hindi/girl/lali-meaning_15255

A quick internet search has brought up Lali, a Hindi name meaning blushing or darling.

I like it. I like the way you've spelt it too.

openwaters · 24/07/2017 16:12

I love Callie but a friend said it was chavvy! It put me off.

Brakebackcyclebot · 24/07/2017 16:27

I like Lallie and Callie!

gunsandbanjos · 24/07/2017 20:09

Lallie is horrible, sorry!

I like Callie, it's usually short for Calliope I think?

MeganChips · 24/07/2017 20:11

I know a Lali, it's definitely a real name.

It's nice enough but feels just a bit wishy washy to me.

TrainedGiant · 24/07/2017 21:17

Callie is mich nice to than Lallie.

Sally? Tally? Raleigh?

TrainedGiant · 24/07/2017 21:18

Oops that should say "Callie is much nicer than"...

Beeziekn33ze · 24/07/2017 21:23

It's a surname in Ireland spelt Lally.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/07/2017 21:24

Lallie sounds like a child's made up name for a doll Confused

Lemondrop99 · 24/07/2017 23:58

Callie is lovely

Lallie definitely sounds like a nickname for something. I much prefer Callie

yousignup · 25/07/2017 00:01

Was the book called Where there's a Will there's a Way, OP?

LinaBo · 25/07/2017 00:11

I know a Lali, her full name is Larissa.

Lightheartedindeed · 25/07/2017 00:13

What about Hallie?

llangennith · 25/07/2017 00:22

Short name for Larissa is Lara not Lali.

Amee1992x · 25/07/2017 00:25

The only name I like similar or can think of is Lalani, produced Lay-Lani. My friends little girl is called that

Epipgab · 25/07/2017 01:15

Maybe a bit retro, but how about Callie, with full name Caroline, or Ali, full name Alison?
