Please help. Only a week to go until our baby girl arrives and we aren't settled on a name yet!

Hadley is lovely. I always had a yearning for Elodie.

NoSquirrels · 18/07/2017 10:36

I've never heard Hallie, so I'd go for Hadley probably. Evelyn is a fave of mine, lovely. I've always liked Hattie but couldn't use it.

Giraffe14 · 18/07/2017 10:45

Thank you. We love Evelyn but like more unusual first names Smile

Where are you all from if you don't mind me asking?

I'm the opposite. I have never heard of Hadley as a girl's name but have heard of Hallie. I think it's pretty. I would think of Hadley more as a boy's name (I live in the SE).

SuperBeagle · 18/07/2017 10:53

Hadley.

Like Hadley Hemingway.

ilivebythesea · 18/07/2017 11:29

Have only heard Halle (without the i), as in Halle Berry. There is an actor (male) called Hadley Fraser, so people might think your DD is a boy. It also reminds me of Tony Hadley (Spandau B). But it is your choice in the end, go with what you feel.

Lemondrop99 · 18/07/2017 12:25

Hadley

Hallie makes me think of halitosis

PandaCat · 18/07/2017 12:56

I prefer Hallie from your choices

Dukesofhazzard · 18/07/2017 15:28

Hallie is lovely

bridgetreilly · 18/07/2017 18:48

I don't love either. What about Hetty?

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 18/07/2017 18:52

Hallie can be mispronounced - I teach a few and they are variously "H-alley' 'Harley'. 'Holly' and Hayley.

KERALA1 · 18/07/2017 18:55

I like Hadley. Not Evelyn as first name though there are millions of them

Mustardnowletsnotbesilly · 18/07/2017 18:57

Hadley just makes me think of Tony.

Hallie is lovely! A bit like Ellie but with a twist making it more unusual but not too out there.

Teacakequeen · 18/07/2017 19:12

I love Hadley. Young people won't know who Tony Hadley is

friedegs · 18/07/2017 19:23

Not keen on either to be honest. Would take Hallie over Hadley though, sounds very male and like the make of a bike or something. But then I like quite flowery, -ia/ -a names for a girl.

WildCherryBlossom · 18/07/2017 19:38

I think I slightly prefer the flow of Hallie Evelyn. Just a thought though - are you pronouncing it EEvlyn or EHvlyn (French style). With a first name ending in an ee sound I would be inclined to use EHvlyn as it's easier on the tongue.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 18/07/2017 19:41

Neither Hadley nor Hallie are nice. They're both very 'of the moment'. Hallie sounds slightly made up, tbh, and Hadley very masculine/surnamey. Sorry.

Evelyn is nice. Could that be her first name?

Sophronia · 18/07/2017 19:48

Hallie is nicer than Hadley. I have a 2 year old cousin named Hallie.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 18/07/2017 20:10

Hadley (Heather fields: lovely association. Hemingway's wife also).

marmitecrumpets · 18/07/2017 20:14

Hallie is gorgeous
