No. Way way too much. Philomena is slightly better than Pegasus.

TartanDMs · 18/07/2017 09:44

Pegasus? No. Philomena? It's ok.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/07/2017 09:45

Philomena is fine as long as your newborn is over 60 years old.
Pegasus great as long as baby is a horse

ilivebythesea · 18/07/2017 09:45

Ummm, a bit 'out there', esp Pegasus. You could nn the girl Phil(ly), but I don't about the boy name - Peg, but then it sounds like Peggy.

WindwardCircle · 18/07/2017 09:48

For me Philomena just about falls on the acceptable side of pretentious. Pegasus isn't a human name, it's a winged horse. It'd be like calling a child unicorn or centaur.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 18/07/2017 09:48

urmmm........no

Actually Philomena is not too bad

RebornSlippy · 18/07/2017 09:50

OMG, no. Philomena is horrible but at least it's a human name. Pegasus though? What the actual, OP? I'm letting you off on the grounds of pregnancy induced something or other!

krakentoast · 18/07/2017 09:52

I don't have twins but always thought if I did I'd probably want to give them different initials. Just imagine it might make things slightly easier in the long run.

Those names are amazing. Batshit, yes, but amazing. More fun than your Noahs/Olivias anyway

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/07/2017 09:53

Peggy and Philly?

No - awful.

GetOutOfMyBath · 18/07/2017 09:54

I did a Classics degree, which might explain some of my leanings...

Pegasus????? Awful!

Blossomdeary · 18/07/2017 09:56

Bloody hell! - poor kids!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/07/2017 09:59

Surely the classics degree covered the fact that Pegasus is the name of a mythical horse though?

supersix · 18/07/2017 10:01

Peg and Phil. Yup. Go for it.

TerfwithaNerf · 18/07/2017 10:02

Philomena: are you expecting a baby or a 60-something, dowdy and very pious Irish auntie?!

Pegasus: just no. But thank you for the much needed laugh 😂😂😂😂.

Rhubarbtart9 · 18/07/2017 10:02

Adore the girls name. And nice nn pip

Pegasus I'm not sure about. Would something like Percy

NotJessica · 18/07/2017 10:03

Yikes.

Philomena immediately makes me think of Philomena Cunk (hilarious but perhaps not what I'd want to associate my child with)

Pegasus is fine if you're birthing a foal

thatorchidmoment · 18/07/2017 10:03

Uh... a big no to Pegasus. Back to the drawing board I would say. Philomena I actually quite like.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/07/2017 10:05

And don't forget the eastenders connection with Phil and Peggy!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/07/2017 10:06

All my most religious great aunties are called philomena

GetOutOfMyBath · 18/07/2017 10:11

Gobbolino Oh god, yes, ha ha! Hadn't twigged that..

hopefully Phil and Peggy wouldn't stay in the collective consciousness of the nation too long!

Philomena for Irish people is a woman of at least 60, a chain-smoker who goes to Mass daily, has a Sacred Heart picture in her kitchen and cardigan pockets full of balled-up tissues. It goes along with names like Concepta, Assumpta, and Attracta.

Think of the kind of 'old lady names' that definitely haven't been revived and become retro-chic, and that's pretty much Philomena, rather than Greek meaningfulness.

Sophronia · 18/07/2017 10:19

Philomena is ok, but Pegasus? Grin

MollyHuaCha · 18/07/2017 10:22

Er... no

Justhadmyhaircut · 18/07/2017 10:23

Poor buggers. .
