Neigh to Pegasus.

DownUdderer · 19/07/2017 00:47

I like them! I shall thumb my nose to all of MN! I like the names!

I have a son with an unusual name

ThinkOfTheHorses · 19/07/2017 01:52

Philomena is fine ... Pegasus is a flying horse and a cartoon character

ThinkOfTheHorses · 19/07/2017 01:53

Artemis and apollo ? Actual twins, actual names

ThinkOfTheHorses · 19/07/2017 01:54

Janus and Juno ?
Athena and Aries?

ThinkOfTheHorses · 19/07/2017 01:54

Ooh Hector and Helen?

ThinkOfTheHorses · 19/07/2017 01:55

Hector you? Do you mean Heckle? I have an MA in Lit and haven't a clue what that means

MadamQuimby · 19/07/2017 02:17

To text or is a real thing

However, I've never heard ANYONE in my whole life say this. Or even refer to it.

Heckle - yes.

Perhaps step away from the Classics for now and join us in 2017

LadyOfTheCanyon · 19/07/2017 04:05

Christ no. I would judge you massively for being such a pretentious twat that you saddled your children with ghastly "Look at me, I'm so achingly unusual" names.

Because let's face it, this is about your desire to have people think you're different, rather than the fact that you've given an iota of thought about a child having to live his life named after a flying horse.

This sort of shit makes me fucking despair.

spamm · 19/07/2017 04:07

No, just no.

spamm · 19/07/2017 04:27

Have you considered Rumi and Sir Carter?

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 19/07/2017 04:53

OP, you have a a degree in classics AND you are considering Pegasus for a name? Shame on you. People with little or second hand only knowledge of the classics might have an excuse - you don't. Grab your Grimal and try harder.

So many twins and brothers and sisters on Greek mythology as well!

JackfruitMoon · 19/07/2017 05:36

Cute!

cricketqueen · 19/07/2017 07:29

I once saw a parent shouting out Zeus at a 6 yr old boy. 8 years later me and dh still laugh about it. All we thought when we heard it was how pretentious and attention seeking it made the parents look. And how it had given poor little Zeus a lot to live up to. I sometimes think about teenage Zeus and how he is coping with such a loaded name. At least he is compared to a God, you want to name your child after a flying horse can you imagine the ridicule.

SleepFreeZone · 19/07/2017 07:39

Hector's a great name Grin

ATemporaryNameChange · 19/07/2017 09:44

How about Firenze? That would be a halfway horse house.

BertrandRussell · 19/07/2017 09:56

How about Farlap? That's interesting and horse related. And as someone on another thread said "it sounds nice and that's the most important thing about a name"

BertrandRussell · 19/07/2017 10:46

Shadowfax? Shad for short?

autumnkate · 19/07/2017 11:15

Hector and Hero. Both classical, both meet sticky ends. Jobs a good'un.

ProfessorBranestawm · 19/07/2017 11:25

Perseus is nicer than Pegasus
