My husband is Swedish and so is our surname. I feel like this name ticks a lot of boxes... But is it too out there?

Gneaus pompeius? Smile

I think you'd get a few 'the great!' comments from educated types and 'eh? Magnum?' from those less so!

VerbenaGirl · 30/06/2017 22:28

I like it, and guess it would fit well with your surname. A nice reflection of his heritage. May well get shortened to Mags - but I like that too!

Heratnumber7 · 30/06/2017 22:33

Ok as long as you have Swedish connections don't you English go getting any ideas!

OllyBJolly · 30/06/2017 22:37

Not unusual in Scotland- and common in Shetland.

Beautiful,strong name.

SuperBeagle · 30/06/2017 22:38

I like it, and would assume a Scandi connection.

EmmaC78 · 30/06/2017 22:40

I like it too.

bridgetreilly · 30/06/2017 22:42

Gorgeous name. Definitely not too out there.

Sophronia · 30/06/2017 22:57

Love it!

DramaAlpaca · 30/06/2017 23:09

It's a fabulous name, go for it!

BlueRumiAndSirsMom · 30/06/2017 23:21

I love it. Wish I had thought of it for either DS's. DP would have vetoed anyway

FinnegansCake · 01/07/2017 00:29

Great name Smile

KoalaDownUnder · 01/07/2017 02:15

I flipping love it.

BenLui · 01/07/2017 02:29

I'm Scottish and I know a few people called Magnus. It's a good strong name.

rose Magnus is a common enough name (depending on your location of course) that Pompey wouldn't be my first association.

OlennasWimple · 01/07/2017 02:38

I love it but - have you heard of the Magnus Chase book series? You might want to look into it and decide if the connection would bother you or not (personally it would be fine)

Jooni · 01/07/2017 05:57

Love it!

CaptainWarbeck · 01/07/2017 05:58

Yeah I really like it too.

Horseshoe1 · 01/07/2017 06:14

Love it

DancingOnTheTable · 01/07/2017 06:48

My brother in law is called Magnus and I think it's a lovely name.

People often call him Mags (which he hates) but there has never been any other issues that I know of.

pinkmagic1 · 01/07/2017 07:06

Fantastic strong name and with your husbands background you can pull it off.

JellyTeapot · 01/07/2017 07:08

I like Magnus but would assume Scottish connections rather than Scandinavian.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/07/2017 08:11

I really like it but it doesn't go with our surname :(

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 01/07/2017 08:12

My DS has a friend Magnus. Suits him.

Puppymouse · 01/07/2017 08:13

Reminds me of Magnus Power Mouse by Dick King Smith sorry Blush

Troika · 01/07/2017 08:14

I love it! I've been trying to persuade dp it's a possible name for us to use

Piffpaffpoff · 01/07/2017 08:16

Love it!

I am a child of the 70's and have a friend called this and he used to get teased a bit re Magnus Pike but I think no children today would get that reference.
