I know an Anouk. I'm not very keen on it, I find it a little harsh- sounding.

I believe it is a standalone name, rather than a shortening of Anoushka; happy to be shown otherwise though as I don't 100% trust some of the naming books I've read!

It's the dog from The Lost Boys. Lovely name but has that connection for me.

Think the dog's name is Nanouk, justdont.

Thanks for all the replies! We've been struggling to find names we like individually, nevermind ones we actually agree on.

Since (re)discovering this name it's become a firm favourite for me but DH is unconvinced. If DC turns out to be a girl I'm hoping we can compromise on this as a middle name. Of course, we still won't have a first name...
