I think it's unusual but cute :)

Teabagtits · 15/06/2017 04:30

I love matteo and mattias

TheDropBear · 15/06/2017 04:33

I love it, it's the name of the baby in Jane the Virgin.
Although I would assume the parents either spoke Spanish or had Spanish speaking heritage.

AreWeThereYet000 · 15/06/2017 04:34

Reminds me of the barman on Benidorm x

SofiaAmes · 15/06/2017 04:37

Note: Mateo with one T is the spanish/hispanic spelling and Matteo with two T's is the Italian spelling....if that makes a difference to you.

Inneedofadvice20172234 · 15/06/2017 05:04

Love it but you'd need some foreign connections to use it - otherwise use Matthew!

llangennith · 15/06/2017 05:16

Barman in Benidorm.

Shockers · 15/06/2017 05:34

I know 3 Mateos, all in the 17-20 age range.

I like it.

SuperBeagle · 15/06/2017 08:04

I would also assume you were Spanish/Mexican/Italian.

I like it, but would probably not use it if I didn't have those connections, if that makes sense.

grufallosfriend · 15/06/2017 08:07

I like Matteo. However I'm not keen on the way some Brits pronounce it May-ay-oh. I prefer the Italian version Matt-e-o.

Sophronia · 15/06/2017 09:41

Lovely

namechange20050 · 15/06/2017 09:43

Lovely! Really nice. Not sure why posters are saying you need to have connections to use it... are we getting upset about cultural appropriation of Spanish and Italian people now?!

moggle · 15/06/2017 10:14

There's a little Matteo in DD's nursery class, he's known as Teo (Tay-oh). He's adorable so I think it's a great name. Don't know about his parents backgrounds but he is a little blondie.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/06/2017 12:37

Love all of the Matt names, Teo is cute !

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 15/06/2017 12:39

Makes me think of Benidorm too, particularly the way Les/Lesley says it, Matt-ee-oh in a Geordie accent Grin

mummytobemaybe · 18/06/2017 20:55

Reminds me of Potato

TabbyTurmoil · 18/06/2017 22:16

It reminds me of Jane the Virgin too

The Spanish speakers pronounce it with a very soft 't' - it would sound less lovely in most English accents imo (may not be relevant if you're not in England!).

CrumblingTeeth · 19/06/2017 21:56

Love it! It's number 1 on my list.

Oriunda · 20/06/2017 02:12

Matteo = Italian. Fine but bit odd if no Italian heritage

Mateo = Spanish/Latam or rose wine. Ok if Hispanic heritage. Or you like rose wine.

Matteo more usable if no foreign connection due to pronunciation

EsmesBees · 20/06/2017 03:13

I've got a friend with Italian roots who lives in the UK with a Matteo. She took him to visit family in Italy and was amazed by the number of little Mattoes around. Apparently it's really popular there at the moment. I think it's a great name that works well in the UK though.

SweatyMoistFlange · 20/06/2017 12:44

So common in Spain, they are everywhere. Nice enough name.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 20/06/2017 12:45

Restaurant around our corner!!
Nice food tho!!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/06/2017 13:17

Sounds beautiful in some accents, dreadful in the local accent where I live. I know this as I heard someone shouting it at a soft play and it just ruined a gorgeous name. Could have been that particular voice though I suppose...

MikeUniformMike · 20/06/2017 13:36

Not unless you are Spanish. How about Coolio?

ColourfulOrangex · 20/06/2017 14:17

Think it's cute, reminds me of the baby from Jane the Virgin :)
