I really love Samantha and my grandad is Samuel so it's honoring too, but I'm guessing people find it dated? I see it as a bit of a classic and imagine some would find it a refreshing choice?

Thoughts and do you know any under 10s named Samantha?

Maybe Sammy as a nn for when small

I don't know any Samantha's under 10 but I have a friend called Samantha who everyone calls Sammie, she's 25

I think it's a nice name OP and if you love it use it :)

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/06/2017 18:47

I don't know any little Samanthas but I too like the name.

bridgetreilly · 05/06/2017 18:49

It's a very 1980's name.

Sophronia · 05/06/2017 18:52

I know a 2 year old Samantha. I was surprised when I heard her name as it is quite dated.

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/06/2017 18:56

I don't know any Samantha's under 25, but a name can't be dated if people start using it. There's an Agnes in our school which seems very old fashioned but these names are making a comeback.

I called DD a name that was about 150th on the list of top 200 names. It's a pretty name and she is the only one in the school with it, rather than being one of 3 Emily's.

If you like it then go for it .

Rockaby · 05/06/2017 19:13

I like it a lot, but apparently I like 80s names, so don't listen to me if you want to avoid 80s Grin

DramaAlpaca · 05/06/2017 19:16

I don't think it's classic, and it is certainly dated. The only ones I know were born in the 70s and 80s.

But if you like it, go for it. I like your reasons for choosing it.

kimlo · 05/06/2017 19:19

I know one who is 3, and of one who is about 18 months

moutonfou · 05/06/2017 19:25

It's also flexible in that they can always become a Sam/Sammy/Sammie if they want to mix it up.

BellMcEnd · 05/06/2017 19:29

One of my most favourite names. I know 5 (all aged between 29 - 46). Everyone of them is a lovely person and weirdly all are in caring professions Smile

TidyDancer · 05/06/2017 19:40

I don't mind it, it's quite sweet.

I know one Samantha and she's in her 40s.

Breezy1985 · 05/06/2017 19:43

The youngest Samantha I know is 4.. I do know loads, I'm an 80's baby.

AliciaMayEmory · 05/06/2017 19:44

I know an 11 year old Samantha. I love it.

tessiebear4 · 05/06/2017 19:46

Samantha Cameron

JennyHolzersGhost · 05/06/2017 19:47

I like it and because it hasn't been used much recently I think it is fresh and original. Use it !

Aranan · 05/06/2017 19:48

I think of Samantha was akin to Tracy or Sharon, having grown up in the 80s but these days it's unlikely to hold the same connotations to her peer group.

floatingfrog · 05/06/2017 19:56

I like Samantha.

villainousbroodmare · 05/06/2017 19:57

It's not the classic that Samuel is.

KatherinaMinola · 05/06/2017 20:01

Lovely classic name, very popular in my generation (1970s). I imagine there'll be lots of little Samanthas soon, named after grandmothers.

My favourite reference is Bewitched .

UsaNayme · 05/06/2017 20:01

Samantha is a bit dated, but not so much that it's not usable. As a kid I thought all the most beautiful girls in the world were called Samantha lol

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 05/06/2017 20:02

I'm not keen on it. Very popular in my age group along with Claire, Carly, Helen and Kathryn. I'm mid thirties.

JennyHolzersGhost · 05/06/2017 20:09

I think some dated names can be revived and others are perhaps left to history (Kevin ....)
Samantha is on the right side of history as far as I'm concerned.

SuperBeagle · 05/06/2017 20:14

Very dated IMO.

Rockaby · 05/06/2017 20:28

As a kid I thought all the most beautiful girls in the world were called Samantha

I thought the same thing about the name Heather! Funny how you think at that age.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/06/2017 20:28

I really like it ❤️
