I like it but prefer it as a nn for Samson

eth37 · 05/06/2017 13:15

I have a Sam. He's fabulous (obviously), and loves his name (he's nearly 8 now). Funnily enough, we've never met another one!

Algebraic · 05/06/2017 13:17

I love Sam. Every Sam I've met has been lovely so that might be why!

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 05/06/2017 13:17

Mine is short for Samuel just in case he's prime minister one day and Sammy whilst he's a baby. Love it and as a PP said there doesn't seem to be many around

WhingingTulip · 05/06/2017 13:19

I have a teenage Sam and he's lovely - biased as I obviously am!! It's short for Samuel as my ExH didn't want to use Sam as a name in its own right although I did.

Twinklyfaerieglade · 05/06/2017 13:19

I love Sam. I have one who is nearly 30 and have never regretted it.

Alcea · 05/06/2017 13:21

Love it

McTufty · 05/06/2017 13:22

I love it!

Mrsknackered · 05/06/2017 14:30

For me, it's boring. So many in my age group. Everyone was called Ben, Sam or Joe.
I do really like Samuel though.

MammieBear · 05/06/2017 14:40

Prefer it as a nickname for Samuel personally but that's my opinion, go for whew to ever you really like it doesn't matter what anyone else else thinks. Smile

Epipgab · 05/06/2017 15:19

It's quite nice and a classic name, not as much used as a few years ago as a PP says.

Samuel reminds me of mules so I prefer Samson as full name.

Sophronia · 05/06/2017 15:36

Love it short for Samuel.

OuchBollocks · 05/06/2017 15:41

Sam short for Samuel is snoozing away on my lap right this second :)

Bananalanacake · 05/06/2017 15:43

I called my girl Sam, short for Samantha. My DP chose it as he loves it.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/06/2017 15:43

Fab !

Ohyesiam · 05/06/2017 16:07

I love it, it's strong and masculine without being macho. Not way out, but not ubiquitous ( one other in the school). Yes I love it.

Dinky024 · 05/06/2017 16:35

I have a Sam short for Samuel, I love it, he's the only one in his class and not as popular as people think, it's strong and classic and will grow with him right into adulthood, go for it!

BikeRunSki · 05/06/2017 16:43

My Sam is 8.i'vecalways called him Sam, but he is beginning to refer to himself as Samuel. Only Granny is allowed to call him Sammy.

I wanted to call him Isambard, with Sam for short, but DH wasn't having it, so he's Samuel. As above, we don't come across many others

JennyGreenteeth · 05/06/2017 16:45

I love Sam- one of my favourite book characters is called Sam and I've always had a soft spot for it.

heymrtambourineman · 05/06/2017 16:45

Lovely name. Love Sammy too

squoosh · 05/06/2017 17:01

Great name.

Jooni · 05/06/2017 17:57

I like it, but love Samson.

DramaAlpaca · 05/06/2017 19:18

I like Sam, but the longer forms not so much. I much prefer it for a boy than for a girl.

PacificDogwod · 05/06/2017 19:19

I have a 13 yo Sam Smile. Aka Sammy and SammyWammy Blush
He's a 'proper' Sam, no Samuel, not Samson, not Samantha Grin

SuperBeagle · 05/06/2017 20:14

I have a Sam (Samuel). He's a gem. Grin
