Hello!
We are having a real dilemma! My husband and I HAD decided on the name Flynn to go with DS1 Sam. All decided and have referred to baby by this name since 20 ish weeks (30 weeks currently). My husband has now decided he loves the name Nate and is considering it! I do like the name and now can't decide! What do people think? Flynn or Nate? Please help!!!

Nate is better as a nickname IMO.

Youvegotafriendinme · 01/06/2017 21:12

I prefer Flynn. Nate sounds like a nick name

Jellymuffin · 01/06/2017 21:12

Nate will be a nickname for Nathan - our Sam is a Samuel.

I don't like Nate.
Definitely Flynn.

HerRoyalFattyness · 01/06/2017 21:13

Oh if Nate is a nickname go for it (I have a Nathan, still don't like Nate)

Stick with Flynn, it's much nicer.

Jellymuffin · 01/06/2017 21:15

I'm not a massive fan of Nathan (but not a massive fan of Samuel either - he's always a Sam!) but Flynn just sounds magical to me. DH worries it will become Finn, I'm worried it's not a 'solid' name.

Nathaniel to be known as Nate was on our list and very near the top. Flynn is too popular for my tastes so I'd go Nate.

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 01/06/2017 21:22

One of my sons is a Flynn. So it's definitely the better name Wink

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/06/2017 21:24

Flynn is nice, but not keen on Nate.

IHaveACrapCat · 01/06/2017 21:26

My baby cousin is Flynn and it suits him perfectly. It's a fabulous name. Nathan is fine, but Flynn is so much better

Rockaby · 01/06/2017 21:33

Flynn or Nathan are both nice but I don't like Nate very much on its own. I slightly prefer Nathan to Flynn.

Jellymuffin · 01/06/2017 21:34

I've just checked and Flynn isn't in the top 100 list - Nathan is no. 55 as you would expect for an old name. I didn't realise people though Flynn was popular?

FinnegansCake · 01/06/2017 21:42

I think Nathan goes much better with Samuel, but I like Flynn better

Epipgab · 01/06/2017 21:49

I prefer Flynn to Nate.

grufallosfriend · 01/06/2017 22:11

Flynn is much nicer than Nate.

SuperBeagle · 01/06/2017 23:14

Flynn is my favourite boy name of all time, so that over everything else.

I don't like Nate at all though. Very outdated, and sounds like it should be short for Nathan, which is nasally.

chipsnmayo · 01/06/2017 23:31

Flynn definitely, much more modern and imo it goes quite well with Sam.

I like Nate but only as nickname for Nathaniel.

Nathan seems a tad dated, I know heaps born in the 80s/90s.

squoosh · 01/06/2017 23:42

I'd never even heard it used a first name up until a couple of years ago and now it seems to get mentioned all the time. So it must be on the increase. Possibly due to Tangled, wasn't the hero in that called Flynn?

Sophronia · 02/06/2017 00:38

Flynn is too surnamey. Nathan/Nate is much nicer and goes well with Sam.

Joeybee · 02/06/2017 00:44

Flynn holds itself as a name in it's own right. Nate is short for Nathaniel or Nathan.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 02/06/2017 00:48

Consider that there is a Fireman Sam and a fire-fighting engine called Fiery Flynn in Thomas.

Twooter · 02/06/2017 00:51

And Flynn from tangled.
I like Nathan mn Nate. Don't like nathaniel - just sounds too much.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 02/06/2017 01:03

I was referring to the fire-fighting theme.
