Sidonie is really pretty and unique. Also like Maeve, Anya, Clara, Amara. The others seem too frilly, over the top to me Smile

stiffstink · 30/05/2017 08:38

I love Sidonie, especially with the nickname Sid!

Rockaby · 30/05/2017 08:41

I really like Maeve, Romily, Clara and Anya. I quite like Hermione and Ophelia too, though I met a little Ophelia once and it did seem a very grand name for a cute little 6mo. But, obviously, she'll be an adult longer than she is a cute baby so meh.

I really dislike Cressida. The rest, I'm pretty indifferent to.

LorLorr2 · 30/05/2017 08:42

Oh.. I was going to say Sidonie was my least favourite along with Hermione! Grin It sounds like you're saying 'Sydney' in a funny accent.
Out of your list I would probably pick Romiĺly as no 1 Grin

GinIsIn · 30/05/2017 08:43

I HATE Cressida.

Love Hermione, Maeve and Clara.

Ceto · 30/05/2017 08:46

The only no-no on that list is Florianne.

bluechameleon · 30/05/2017 08:49

My favourites are Clara and Romilly. I love Eloise but not with Elodie. Not at all keen on Cressida, Hermione or Sidonie.

Nevergrowingold · 30/05/2017 08:53

I like them all apart from Maeve (really old fashioned to me) and Clara (popular on here but never liked it.) some of them are unusual but still lovely.

Argeles · 30/05/2017 08:56

Sidonie, Maeve, Amara and Ophelia are really lovely names

Teddy6767 · 30/05/2017 08:59

Anya and Amara are the only ones I like. Both very pretty

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/05/2017 09:04

I wouldn't say Maeve was a pretty name, quite the opposite. IMO. Its ugly and frumpy.
Sidonie Is very pretty, but Not much different from Sydney.
Florianne. Is gorgeous
Cressida please don't bestowe such a repulsive name on a child
Hermione Don't like it
Romilly Very pretty and unique without being too try hard.
Eloise See above, but you can hardly have an Elodie and an Eloise
Ophelia See Cressida
Clara Very pretty
Anya See Clara
Amara. Not keen

Redpramlady · 30/05/2017 09:05

My favs are (at the moment )

Sidonie
Maeve

SuperBeagle · 30/05/2017 09:09

I like:

  • Eloise
  • Ophelia
  • Clara

Dislike:

  • Sidonie (second that it sounds like someone saying Sydney incorrectly)
  • Florianne
  • Cressida - although this is no more posh than Ophelia if you're concerned about that
  • Hermione
  • Amara

Neutral:

  • Maeve
  • Romilly
  • Anya
SuperBeagle · 30/05/2017 09:10

Oh yes, you can't have an Eloise if you already have an Elodie.

Redpramlady · 30/05/2017 09:12

Agree with options on Cressida and Ophelia and most people can't pronounce Hermione properly so take that one off too
Florrianne I do like florri

So revised list

Maeve
Sidonie
Florianne
Romilly
Clara
Anya
Amara

I don't like Sidonie sorry. I think you'll struggle to get people to say it the way you want and also the spelling will often be wrong.

I like Anya best but also like Maeve.

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/05/2017 09:15

Maeve - lovely name. I really like it and Mavis but they don't go with our surname

Sidonie - I think most people will automatically pronounce it like Sydney so you and DD will spend alot of time correcting people. It's pretty but it depends if that will bother you, I know it would bother me. It's also a bit similar sounding to Elodie

Florianne - beautiful, my favourite from your list. It's so underused but so beautiful.

Cressida - it's ok just not my style. You could call her Sid for short

Hermione - I really like it but doubt you'll be able to avoid HP references. It was actually on my list for DD but I couldn't get part the UP thing and I don't even like HP (maybe if I did I wouldnt mind do much)

Romilly - pretty but I much prefer others on your list

Eloise - I actually think Elodie and Eloise work as they have completely different endings. Whereas Elodie and Sidonie sound too similar to me because they end the same.

Ophelia - a bit too frilly for me

Clara - love it

Anya - I like that you can get Annie from it but I prefer other Ann names (Anna, Anneliese, Annabel)

Amara - dislike

I would choose Elodie and Florianne or Elodie and Clara

superking · 30/05/2017 09:17

Of your revised list I like Clara, Anya and Romilly. Don't like Sidonie or Florianne. Neutral on Maeve and Amara.

Rockaby · 30/05/2017 09:17

Revised list in order if preference (favourite to least favourite)

  1. Romilly
  2. Clara
  3. Anya
  4. Maeve
  5. Florianne
  6. Amara
  7. Sidonie
temporarilyjerry · 30/05/2017 09:33

In order of preference

Romilly (but not if you already have Elodie)
Anya
Clara
Amara
Florianne
Maeve
Sidonie

RuthB4 · 30/05/2017 10:14

Maeve is just beautiful! Not so keen on the others.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/05/2017 10:28

Florianne is lovely (Flori)
I also love Anya, but not the others.

Sophronia · 30/05/2017 12:58

I like Florianne and Sidonie best

wigglesrock · 30/05/2017 13:07

From your revised list Grin I really like Anya, Amara & Romilly. I really love Anya, it's my favourite by a long shot. I find Maeve dated and I don't like the v spelling of it.
