I like Nancy, Bridget and Serena for a girl and Christopher, Gabriel and Peter for a boy.

I started to read Swallows and Amazons when I was little but can't really remember it! Why, have I accidentally picked the names of all the characters? There was a Ruth wasn't there? I'm surprised nobody has mentioned The Bell Jar yet too.

Harriet, Nancy and Bridget for girls are my favourites from your list.
I like all the boys equally except Caspar which doesn't grab me.
My suggestions are Juliet, Miriam, Hugh and Anthony.

Rockaby there was Nancy (proper name Ruth) and Peggy (Amazons) and John, Susan, Titty (not likely to be used nowadays ) Roger and the baby was Bridget (Swallows) so you've got a couple of the girls.

One of my favourite girls names is Leonie (also from a book) wasn't allowed to use it for my DDs

I love Nancy but OH hates it, love Caspar but prefer it spelled Casper :) Christopher i's a really lovely name too, classic and strong. And reminds me of Christopher Robin too!

I kind of like Sylvia but think Sylvie is mucharged nicer.

For suggestions, in case you have similar tastes to me, Flora is top of my girls list, and Felix is our set in stone boys name.

Harriet is my favourite of your girls list, my least favourite is probably Bridget.

I would go for Caspar or Gabriel from the boys list. I think my least favourite is Christopher as it feels a bit 'eighties' to me!

I love all your girls names other than Nancy, that still seems a little old fashioned to me. However, my favourite girls name is probably Harriet.

Boys names, I really like both Patrick and Gabriel. I also love Christopher but loathe Chris, and I'm in two minds whether Peter is due a revival.

Love Rosalie, but DH vetoed. Like Stella but again, have one in the family.

I like Leontine but prefer Leonora which DH vetoed.

I really like Nicholas and James. They were on my longer list but I'm just not sure I'd want to use either of them.

Miranda I can take or leave. I know one IRL who has put me off the name a bit.

If it makes a difference, we would shorten Christopher to Kit or possibly Christie (I know it's hard to plan nns, but I just mean we'd shorten to one of these for as long as possible, before another nn appeared).
