Which do you prefer? No other variations or spellings considered.

Lauren is much more chic. I love it and I'm sure it's due a revival. Tonnes of Sophies/Sophias at the moment, it's nice enough but she would be one of many.

Sophie all Lauren's I know are cows

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 23/05/2017 09:04

I think Lauren is dated too I'm afraid. Sophie is a classic.

tinypop4 · 23/05/2017 09:28

I know so many little Sophie's at the moment. I think Lauren is classic, pretty and underused so I would definitely go for that

joannegrady90 · 23/05/2017 09:31

I think they're both a bit dated, however I prefer sophie as most Laurens I know are late 20s and hate their name.

I'm a Lauren and I've always liked it: it's feminine without being overly cute (which really wouldn't suit me at all) and still has a sheen of old Hollywood glamour, despite all the creatively-spelled Loren/Lorins I shared it with in school. :/

Really my only complaint was that it was so popular among my age group. I moved to Britain in my early 20s though and found myself 5-10 years older than most British Laurens (it's very much a mid-80s name in the US and a mid-90s name here). That's enough of age gap that I've always been the only Lauren in my university cohorts and friendship circles. A Lauren born in 2017 almost certainly wouldn't have to be a "Lauren Surname Initial" in school.

Stollen I definitely associate it with Lauren Bacall rather than Essex Smile

Huge congratulations!!!! What are you going to name him or is that still up in the air (by the way I love Laurence for a boy, so sophisticated).

Mrsknackered · 13/06/2017 13:31

Congratulations!

Sophronia · 14/06/2017 10:50

Congrats! What did you name him? Smile
