Flynn
Holden for a boy?

Will have a normal British surname beginning with E

I'm sure lots of people will hate some/all of these so I'd be really grateful if they'd just decline to comment rather than tell me how awful they all are

Flynn is my fave.

Holden sounds too much like 'hold on' to me and is the surname of a friend too.
Roscoe is a bit naff imo.

Holden is Vauxhall in Australia isn't it? So yeah that would be like naming them Vauxhall. Flynn and Roscoe both great names
