Love Michael ❤ I know a 4yo and a 14yo as well as my brother, uncle and Grandad.

RueDeWakening · 08/05/2017 16:49

I have a Michael who is nearly 4. The only other child Michael we've come across is 15, so it's not a common name (round here, anyway!).

EsmeeMerlin · 08/05/2017 16:53

I have a Michael. We have not met many other children with the name. I love it because it's strong and traditional.

wigglesrock · 08/05/2017 16:54

Its a lovely name, runs the whole way through my husbands family. It's never shortened in their family and most Michaels I know don't use nicknames. I know quite a few 30 and overs but my kids don't go to school with any. It's the nicest of all four of the names you mentioned.

29Palms · 08/05/2017 17:53

Oh yes, Michael has everything going for it. I'm only surprised it hasn't been consistently popular because it's a classic in my eyes.

Jooni · 08/05/2017 17:54

Michael is nice, you hardly ever meet a young Michael now but it's got a lovely sound.

I like your other choices too (especially Oscar and Henry) but they're much more expected on a 2017 baby. I'd find a baby Michael quite refreshing!

ArcheryAnnie · 08/05/2017 18:04

Michael is lovely!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/05/2017 18:35

Michael is a really nice name.

29Palms · 08/05/2017 18:59

Oscar is terribly faddy, and forever tarnished in my eyes by the appalling Pistorius.

whensitmyturn · 08/05/2017 19:01

Really like Michael, it's ds's middle name as it's a family name.
Doesn't sound dated and suits all ages.

George is a good name too but Michael is my favourite.

susanboozan · 08/05/2017 19:03

My dad was Michael, called Mike, my brother is Michael called Mick.

But I love the name just the same as in the full name. Because Dad and bro have nicks they are good too. I know where their names came from.

Jecan · 08/05/2017 19:17

It was our top favourite for ds till my MIL went on about how much she didn't like it. It is said differently in her language but I loved both pronunciations and the nickname "Michi".
I agree it's a classic name

BackforGood · 08/05/2017 19:21

Michael is lovely - lots of different possibilities for nick names that suit different ages, but a good strong 'proper' name for those occasions that also warrant it. A well known, but not over used name.

Montsti · 08/05/2017 19:37

I like Michael but especially Mikey...not keen on Mick though...

susanboozan · 08/05/2017 19:39

Montsti

My brother Mick is Mick and would never suit Michael. But Mum calls him Michael to this day.

Totally confusing!

Dad has passed away but I really like Mike for a shortcut. Which is what he called himself. Missing him now as always.

ragged · 08/05/2017 19:57

it is the most used man's name over last 70 yrs in English speaking countries... or close enough to top overall place. Maybe that just means lots of people have good taste.

scrivette · 08/05/2017 19:59

I like Michael, not keen on Mike. One of mine has it as a middle name.

Chatelherault · 08/05/2017 20:10

Love Michael, classic without being old man name at all.

QuietNameChange · 08/05/2017 20:17

Michael is really lovely.

I also like Henry and George, but Michael is totally awesome. Michi is a cute nn (sad with a "German" ch) in my first language. But I think Michi/Mickey would be nice in an English speaking people's accents as well :)

Congratulations :)!

shesnotme · 08/05/2017 21:48

Lovely

DramaAlpaca · 08/05/2017 22:16

Great name. Classic, traditional and strong. Love it.

Soozikinzii · 08/05/2017 22:19

A lovely name it's my brothers name and he much prefers the full name which he does get and I agree with him. It's not common at all these days so I think it's a great choice xx

floatingfrog · 08/05/2017 22:25

Love Michael.

Sophronia · 08/05/2017 22:51

Love Michael!

HelgaHufflepuff76 · 08/05/2017 22:53

I've always loved the name Michael
