Alexander, Sebastian or Henry?

My DH and I really can't decide which one we like the best, our favourites change daily. So opinions would be appreciated. Please keep them helpful though, rather than just "I hate them" as we will be choosing one of these names.
How do you picture children/men with these names? Do they sound strong, smart?

Alexander
Sebastian
Henry

Middle name will be Ridley or possibly Rupert Ridley if it sounds better with two middle names. Surname is one syllable.

Thank you.

I really like them all, but my favourite is definitely Sebastian.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/04/2017 19:52

Sebastian or Alexander.

Not a fan of Henry.

Sunshineandlaughter · 29/04/2017 19:52

I like them all. See what baby looks like ahd what suits him best.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 29/04/2017 19:53

Maybe think which nn would be likely for each?

CatRash · 29/04/2017 19:55

Sebastian definitely!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/04/2017 19:57

Sebastian.

EllaHen · 29/04/2017 20:01

Alexander is absolutely lovely. Cute for a boy, strong for a man.

Sebastian is great too but rather posh for my Scottish sensibilities. A shame as otherwise I might have used it.

Henry is not for me.

ACatCalledFang · 29/04/2017 20:02

Alexander or Sebastian - I love Henry but I think the -ry ending sounds too alliterative with your surname. The other two sound great and go really well.

ACatCalledFang · 29/04/2017 20:02

Sorry, I meant middle name, not surname!Blush

Wishfulmakeupping · 29/04/2017 20:04

I have a Henry I've always adored the name!

Sebastian is nice Seb is a cool nickname.

Alexander is ok but meh but it's very popular where I am.

CassandraAusten · 29/04/2017 20:04

I like Sebastian best. Lots of Henrys around here.

GVmama · 29/04/2017 20:04

They are all good, strong 'proper' names. I prefer Henry or Sebastian, but only because I went to school with lots of Alexanders, and struggle to separate the name from the spotty boys I once knew!

Henry doesn't seem to get shortened, but Sebastian is likely to get shortened to Seb unless you make a big deal about it, so it depends how you feel about Seb?

MumUndone · 29/04/2017 20:11

Sebastian sounds a bit wet in my opinion. I like Alexander and Henry but with the middle names I think Alexander sounds better.

Sophronia · 29/04/2017 20:17

Sebastian. It's more interesting than the other two.

AdaColeman · 29/04/2017 20:19

Sebastian by a very long way.

ilovepixie · 29/04/2017 20:20

Sebastian Rupert sounds nice.

Impatientwino · 30/04/2017 18:53

We have a Sebastian and just love it. He is strong, determined and it suits him beautifully.

He gets a mixture of Sebastian, Seb and Sebbie at home. He's currently only 4 so we'll see which he prefers us using when older!

Most people do use his full name though I would say (family aside)

Impatientwino · 30/04/2017 18:55

It sounded out nicely when he was learning to spell it too. It splits nicely into 3 x 3 groups of phonics and I think this helped him learn it quickly!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 30/04/2017 18:56

Henry.

summerblonde · 30/04/2017 19:01

I love the name Sebastian. All of your name choices are lovely but Sebastian is my fave. 💙

They're all lovely but I would probably go with Sebastian at a push as Henry is a little bit "of the moment" - obviously a classic but definitely experiencing a revival over the past few years...Alexander is probably the "safest" but maybe that means it's a bit boring..

Good luck with whichever name you choose!

pilates · 30/04/2017 20:02

Alexander or Henry, not keen on Sebastian

Watto1 · 30/04/2017 20:06

Alexander. I don't think Henry goes that well with Ridley and I'm not keen on Seb, which Sebastian would inevitably get shortened to.

YouFlippinWhat · 30/04/2017 20:13

I don't like Henry at all. SOOO boring.

Sebastian is really cool and not too common either.

Alexander I like a lot too, but I'm not a big fan of its inevitable nicknames.

So for me, it has to be Sebastian.
