Peter or David?

Newsand · 22/04/2017 16:34

Family reasons to choose one or the other.....

I quite like them both, (and think they will be the only one in their class!) but would be grateful for thoughts.

Does anyone know a Peter or a David under the age of about 25?!

Thanks. :)

Peter Smile no, I don't know any that are under 25, but quite like Peter: Peter Pan and Peter Rabbit Smile

Newsand · 22/04/2017 16:36

I'm leaning towards Peter tbh. :)

David

allegretto · 22/04/2017 16:43

Peter

Newsand · 22/04/2017 16:43

:)

I keep saying the two to myself, and can't get on with David. (Possibly because we have a slightly unpleasant neighbour called David).

Peter seems kind of cute for a baby /little boy.

I have taught two Davids in the last few years. Neither English born though.

Newsand · 22/04/2017 16:45

My BF rolled her eyes and said they were both so unimaginative, but you don't hear either very often nowadays!!

Yes! Yes! Peter or David. Either is fine. Use both if you like. Thank goodness for someone with an ounce of sense on a Baby Names thread.

Might I offer the alternative 'Jayden-Caiden-Loopylop-Hayden' in case you feel out of sync with the rest of MN.

WallisFrizz · 22/04/2017 16:47

Peter is a lovely name.

Justinny · 22/04/2017 16:48

The - that's incredibly rude.

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 22/04/2017 16:48

There's a David at the Nursery I used to work. My son who's 19 had a class mate called David. My son's middle name is David.

NameChange30 · 22/04/2017 16:55

Neither. They're names from our parents' generation. OK as middle names. But a bit old and boring as first names. Sorry!

TheNaze73 · 22/04/2017 16:56

David is a great name. Peter is a bit meh

oklumberjack · 22/04/2017 16:57

Peter. Definitely. I love it.

Yes they were fairly common in our parents day, but these days I haven't heard any in the playground right through to secondary school.

Peter Pan. Classic.

sleepyMe12 · 22/04/2017 16:57

I've got a Peter 18mths. We always get nice comments on his name.Smile

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2017 17:01

I love Peter. It is DS's middle name, but I would have happily had it as his first name. DS is 8.

Ikeameatballs · 22/04/2017 17:03

Peter. I suggested it for Ds but now ex-dp vetoed it.

Womble75 · 22/04/2017 17:03

We just chose Peter for my DS middle name (family reason also) and had so many comments on how nice it is to see the name being used again.

danTDM · 22/04/2017 17:03

David, in case he ever lives in the rest of the world.
Translates easily to most European countries.

YoungYolandaYorgensen39 · 22/04/2017 17:06

Ive always loved the name Peter.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/04/2017 17:09

Love David.

Montypulciano · 22/04/2017 17:10

Both are fine names but I marginally prefer Peter (probably as I had a grim ex called David!)

Dd2 would have been Peter if a boy.
