Peter or David?

Family reasons to choose one or the other.....

I quite like them both, (and think they will be the only one in their class!) but would be grateful for thoughts.

Does anyone know a Peter or a David under the age of about 25?!

Thanks. :)

My son is one (not saying which).

He is British born, but we are not.

Neither for me, sorry.
Pete or Dave is what they'll be called

Peter if I had to chose

Fozzleyplum · 23/04/2017 08:10

My Peter doesn't get called Pete - and his friend David is never a Dave.

MrsEricBana · 23/04/2017 08:41

My dh has one of those names. His family call him the full version as do various friends of ours who "can't bring themselves" to call him the shortened version. The longer version works far better for his job BUT he insists on the shortened version. Wonder if King David and Saint Peter were ever known as Dave and Pete?

MrsEricBana · 23/04/2017 08:43

The thing is the person dictates how the name feels I think (yes I'm thinking of you Colin Firth) and both are very solid names.

Fozzleyplum · 23/04/2017 10:25

Mrs Eric, you wouldn't happen to be Sam Cam would you?Grin

Peter Smile

Lemondrop09 · 23/04/2017 15:22

Peter is lovely. Petey and Pete are cute too.

David will eventually get shortened to Dave, which I find quite dull and for some reason makes me think of white van drivers lol!

Lweji · 23/04/2017 15:30

I worked in an Academic environment in the UK and we had loads of Davids. Many sometimes abbreviated to Dave, but not all. I suppose most weren't exactly upper class, but definitely not white van drivers. Grin

Several Peters here who are around 20. No idea why as is wasn't particularly popular at the time.

buttercup54321 · 23/04/2017 23:07

Peter David is lovely

booellesmum · 23/04/2017 23:13

David.
My dad was David Stuart - always loved his name.

heron98 · 24/04/2017 15:41

I love Peter.

Pemba · 24/04/2017 18:02

They are both nice names. I do know one young David, he's 24.

Out of the two, I would say Peter, as David was done to death in previous decades. I have a few uncle Davids, plus went to school with several. I think the name needs to be rested a bit longer!

SuperFlyHigh · 24/04/2017 18:04

I don't get the family reasons to name either name.

jobrum · 24/04/2017 18:15

Peter, there's one at dd's nursery and it was on my list if I had a boy this time round.

EmmaWoodlouse · 24/04/2017 22:11

I know of a David who's about 3.

Moo31 · 24/04/2017 22:13

Peter is lovely :)

TinselTwins · 24/04/2017 22:15

I always think "eight is a lot of legs David" when I here that name… and I do the accent so.. Peter! Grin

NotMyPenguin · 24/04/2017 22:19

I love both of them!

Slight preference for David overall, but both are super names and to be honest it might come down to how they sound with your last name and the middle name you choose?

DalaHorse · 24/04/2017 22:23

I think Dave is preferable to Pete for the inevitable shortening though.

Ladyvird135 · 24/04/2017 22:28

I know a Peter who's 1! Goes by Pete. Nice name. Think I'd prefer to David.
