Thoughts on Jovie

Hi,

Need some advice, we both like the name Jovie but others have said it sounds like J0bby, especially in Glaswegian accent! Don't know what to do as we both love the name and have few other ideas but don't want to risk it if people will associate it with that word.

My first thought was 'bon'

Where does it come from? It's not great. I've heard jovan as a name, better than jovie I think

Either way it's just not doing it for me.

And are we talking for a boy or girl? You'll have people saying 'Jodie?' and you'll have to spell it endlessly.

It's OK as a nn for Jovan but a bit flimsy as a standalone IYSWIM.

I love it but my favourite film is Elf so I'm biased.

As in a sort of female version of Jove? God of Sky and Thunder?

Or as in Jon Bon Jovi? His real name is Bongiovi.

Bon Jovi are my fave band since forever but still wouldn't inflict that that name on my child.
