I'm 32 weeks and I have always wanted to call my baby boy Charlie, but recently come across this name and like the uniqueness. I want people's honest opinion on the name.

Many thanks.

Prefer Charlton, or Charles.

Veterinari · 14/04/2017 09:13

Charleton is a name
Charleston is a dance/city

Imo charleston is a ridiculous attempt at making Charles 'less mainstream'. And it sounds horrible. Just call him Charles and Charlie for short. One of my favourite names Grin

AbernathysFringe · 14/04/2017 10:38

Veterinari What do you think the 'ton' in Charleton means?

Veterinari · 15/04/2017 19:32

I believe tin is Saxon for an enclosed village or farmstead Abernathy

Charlton also an established name for a human. Charleston is not

SeveredPixieBits · 15/04/2017 19:35

I would assume you had misheard/ misspelt Charlton.

It's a dance or a city. It's not a name.

Joeybee · 16/04/2017 00:05

It's nice and unique but not too out there. Also you can totally get 'Charlie' as a nn from it.

buttercup54321 · 16/04/2017 00:09

Awful. Like an old fashioned 30's dance. Go for Charles or just Charlie.

JudgeJudySheidlin · 16/04/2017 00:29

Not too keen myself, but I don't see what's wrong with the name? I also don't buy that a child's name can't be used because it's the name of a city or dance? If you love it, go for it.Wink
