My DH is really keen on this if DC2 (due later this year) is a boy. I'm not sure on it at all but can't put my finger on why so thought I'd get some opinions please!

Currently I just have a total blank on names for this baby! DD is Isla. On the list for her we also had:
Eve
Naomi

And for boys we had
Jack
Evan
Aaron (can't have due to rude initials issue with chosen middle name)

DH tends to like 'trendier' names than me, for girls he likes Scarlet and Willow which I feel will date . I think also as I go to all the baby groups I see how many names he thinks are 'unusual' are actually really fashionable!

Really not a fan of Logan sorry. Isla is a lovely name, seems to me to be in a totally different ball park to Logan..

I don't like it. It sounds like the word some people use for a wad of phlegm.
Are you American? It sort of goes with those kind of American names like Hunter, Satchel, Casey, Striker.

Not too keen on Logan. There seems to be a lot of them about at the moment & (as a teacher) any I've had in my class are a bit chavvy & not terribly bright. Sorry...! 😮

Ok thanks. No not American but we are in Australia and there is a similar 'name vibe' I think. Im not into surnames as first names at all but DH reckons it's Scottish and traditional and therefore goes with Isla. Eatspam thank you for the phlegm comment - I honestly think that was in my mind but I couldn't pin it down because when I read that I was like 'oh yeah, it's phlegm'. I'm telling DH it's out!

It is a Scottish surname so does kind of go with Isla. It won't get the MN thumbs up of course!

I actually think it's a really nice name. And I personally think (like Mitzy) that it really does go with Isla (which is a lovely name, btw).

Maybe Cormac, Anton, Angus, Scott, Ian (two Is, but that may not bother you) or Fraser?

My DP wants to name ds2 (due in June) Logan - its the wolverine connection. The only thing that puts me off is that it's my sisters nephews name and they call him 'logie bear' which I hate Confused

I don't like Logan. Can't quite put my finger on why, it's just not to my taste and seems a bit common.

Well, tbh, Logie bear isn't the most obvious nickname.
It's somewhat unlikely the OP's son will be stuck with this... (but Logie may happen, I suppose. or maybe Lollo?)

A teacher calling kids chavvy and not very bright because of their name needs to find a different job.

Sorry Itaintme... no offense intended. However names do have associations...and some kids, as lovely as they may be, aren't terribly bright. Just like some adults. 😁

We have one so we're biased Grin he also gets called Logiebear which I think is sweet but each to their own. I haven't met a single other Logan yet (none in any nursery or playgroup). It's v popular in Scotland - and tho southerners we are originally Scottish (very Scottish surname) hence why we picked it. I hope he will find the wolverine connection cool later on. If not, he has a very standard middle name to fall back on.
As pp mentioned, it actually would work fine with Isla, but perhaps you would prefer something more obviously Scottish.

I had a teacher at school called Mrs Logan who was a complete bitch so I'm a bit prejudiced against it. I don't generally like surnames as first names although it seems to be in fashion at the moment.

Super popular in Scotland, and yes, it's a bit chavvy.

There are dozens of other Scottish boys names if you're going for that vibe: Fraser, Blair, Euan, Rory, Murray, Hamish, Lewis etc

Not keen really, even less so since my dc has known a not very nice Logan. I had a friend with the surname when I was at school. Loganberries are nice though!

A mate of ours had a baby a few weeks ago and called him Logan.

I have a Logan , he is nearly 6 and the name wasn't at all common when I chose it . He was very prem and poorly and it felt like a strong name . We call him Logi most of the time and logi bear is his nickname ( my dd names him this when I was pregnant ) I'm not ' chavvy' or ' thick' but as with a lot of names you can't predict their future popularity .
