Margot or Mary?

I love both of these names, which do you prefer? Thank you.

I know Margot is having a surge, but I don't like it. I hate the hard 'g' sound in the middle, and it reminds me of maggot.

I prefer Margot. Love it. We have one. I like Mary a lot too though.

I like both, but Mary is the nicer of the too. I think Margot might be a bit of a current fad which is a shame as it's a nice name.

I have a Margot. Everyone comments on how unusual it is. Maybe consider the alternative spelling margaux if you want to be diff. I like it but my brother told me I was being precocious!

As far as I'm aware the G is silent, so Margo. I could be wrong though.

Mary is beautiful, have always loved the name, so classic and timeless. Not keen on Margot I'm afraid.

For me Mary has too many religious overtones. It’s my middle name and the middle name of every girl I grew up with too. But if you didn’t attend a convent school for 14 years you probably don’t have the same associations!

I prefer Margot. It has a cool 1940s vibe. And it’s not frilly, always a plus.

Don't like either but Mary is worst.
