I'm not a fan of colours as names personally but if you like it I certainly can't see anything wrong with it.

LovingLola · 05/04/2017 23:24

If your surname is Brown, Green, Black, Gray or White then no.

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe · 05/04/2017 23:25

Fuck no. The hormones have addled your brain.

queenT90 · 05/04/2017 23:26

I'd say it's too out there, but that's just my opinion if you love it then go for it! Maybe be best as a middle name though?

SSR24479 · 05/04/2017 23:26

Like Beyoncé's daughter? There's probably been an increase since she was born but it's not that bad. I used to have a dog named Blue.

TheBookIsOnTheTable · 05/04/2017 23:27

It is pretty out there, yes. I think it's okay as a nickname though.

EssentialHummus · 05/04/2017 23:29

Bit out there- maybe nickname for Lewis/Louis/Louie?

wantsomecoffee · 05/04/2017 23:30

the hormones hahaha probably true! what about "Something" Blue though?

It's still pretty out there as a middle name but again if you definitely like it why not!

CoffeeAndEnnui · 06/04/2017 00:23

If it's Betty Blue, possibly. As long as she never ever watches the end of the film. Anything else Blue...not so much.

queenT90 · 06/04/2017 00:23

Bonnie Blue

SuperBeagle · 06/04/2017 00:56

It's fine as a middle name, but not as a first name. It's too Beyonce to work on the average kid.

CherriesInTheSnow · 06/04/2017 01:05

Would genuinely love it as a first name if it weren't for the Beyonce connotations :(

Would make an adorable and unique middle name :)

reuset · 06/04/2017 01:10

It could be fine as a middle name, with the right first name.

deluxetrolley · 06/04/2017 01:25

We used to have a dog called Blue and I would love to use it as a middle name. It's always been on the list but haven't been brave enough to go ahead!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/04/2017 10:04

Blue is fine for a middle name.

DeborahFallis77 · 06/04/2017 10:51

Love it for a middle name.

HeadlessGummyBears · 06/04/2017 11:21

Lol as long as long as it's not Jean Blue Surname, "Blue" as a middle name might work?

Anyway, some suggestions if you like names inspired by colours:

Amber
Ash
Cerise
Clementine
Clover
Coral
Hazel
Iris
Ivy
Jade
Lavender
Marigold
Olive
Pearl
Rose
Ruby
Saffron
Sage
Sapphire
Scarlett
Sienna
Sky (or "Skye" after the Isle of Skye?)
Sorrel
Violet
Willow

originalbiglymavis · 06/04/2017 11:23

I once knew a China White.

reuset · 06/04/2017 11:25

I found a Snow White in the registers just this week (first name Snow, surname White), was on another thread.

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe · 06/04/2017 11:28

Feeling blue? Once in a blue moon?

Maybe as a middle name...

strangehumour · 06/04/2017 11:32

Probably just me being silly, but Blue is the same as Blew which just has rude things linked with it, from simple she 'blew off' (fart) to she 'blew him' (BJ) sorry to lower the tone.

My children find farts hilarious - I'm sure they'd make a connection with Blue. They erupt into laughter if we say 'but' even! (Primary age at the moment).

I love the colour though.

strangehumour · 06/04/2017 11:33

oh, and not rude things: blew the trumpet, blew her nose.

wantsomecoffee · 06/04/2017 11:38

strange , that is very true and never thought about that. I don't think it would sound very good putting it that way with our surname ! :(

Hope you didn't mind me saying it. Picking my children's names was one of my favourite things to do while pregnant. Enjoy every moment.
