Name changed for this. Is this a good name or not? It has some strong references, that we've probably all heard of. It's easy to pronounce and spell, and most will have heard of it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
thecatfromjapan · 05/04/2017 23:04

I love it.

PaperdollCartoon · 05/04/2017 23:04

It just reminds me of the ice lollie Calypo's

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2017 23:15

Reminds me of The Camomile Lawn. I like it.

originalbiglymavis · 05/04/2017 23:18

Wasn't that Jane Seymours character in a James Bond?

arghpedrevan · 05/04/2017 23:19

I knew a Calypso once. I like it.

smashyourglasses · 05/04/2017 23:20

😂 it's gold. Go for it 🖒

tygr · 05/04/2017 23:21

Calliope I like, Calypso no. It just makes me think of the music.

TheHiphopopotamus · 05/04/2017 23:24

Reminds me of The Camomile Lawn.

Me too. It was a great book and tv adaption. I think I like the name too although it would depend on how it went with your surname.

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe · 05/04/2017 23:25

Sweet jesus why would you be so cruel?

TheBookIsOnTheTable · 05/04/2017 23:26

"Calypso was a nymph in Greek mythology" - Nice meaning for your future DD there Grin

To me it's a type of music. Bit like calling your kid Samba or Tango.

kittytom · 05/04/2017 23:38

I like it. A friend's DD is called Calypso. It suits her.

IllMetByMoonlight · 05/04/2017 23:44

Was on a our list of middle names, I think it is lovely.

HeyRoly · 05/04/2017 23:45

It's a liqueur coffee, like an Irish coffee but with Tia Maria. I'm quite partial to them but I wouldn't name my daughter after one.

UserOne · 05/04/2017 23:48

Like the music? And I'm sure there's an ice lolly called Calypso or something too.

wizzywig · 05/04/2017 23:50

Only if your surname is something like smith/ jones.

smashyourglasses · 06/04/2017 00:27

Calypso Jones 😂

CatThiefKeith · 06/04/2017 00:29

All I can think of is Pirates of the Caribbean

squoosh · 06/04/2017 00:33

Jennifer Ehle in The Camomile Lawn. She wore great lipstick and had a grand old time during the war.

What was the name of her cousin who had the threesomes with the twins? She probably had a sensible name like Jane. 😄

reuset · 06/04/2017 00:42

Not a favourite of mine, though I do know of someone who has used this.

FlyingDuck · 06/04/2017 00:47

squoosh, it was Polly.

I'm reading some Mary Wesley's ATM - lots of Classical names in her books (Hebe, Calypso, Hector, Juno, Poppaea). And also many florals.

SuperBeagle · 06/04/2017 00:55

Awful.

Reminds me of Calippos too.

Jooni · 06/04/2017 08:58

It's too much for me. This coming from the mother of a Juno.

Calliope, Calista or Cleo?

BasicBetty · 06/04/2017 10:02

I really don't like it. Conjurs up images of Calippos and steel bands - neither of which I like.
Calista is great. Or Calliope.

squoosh · 06/04/2017 10:25

Yes, Polly! Thank you FlyingDuck :)

KoalaDownUnder · 06/04/2017 10:32

My close friend has one.

I have to admit, when I received the birth announcement I was ConfusedShock. But it has grown on me.

I hate telling other people her name, though, as the reaction is usually not good.
